Battle Divorce! - Chapter 14
“As a soldier, I’ve only ever lived with rough men in the army, so I guess I don’t know much about women’s hearts. I made a mistake. If I scared you, I truly apologize.”
“Sniff, still… you did it for so long. And with… your tongue…”
“Really? I actually thought I kept it short…”
No conscience at all. She’d almost suffocated because of him, and he called that short?
“When I said I’d keep it short today, I meant it. Please don’t be too disappointed.”
She thought he’d joked with that sly remark, but now she realized he’d been dead serious. She didn’t even know where to start correcting him.
“And… the bra hook… you unfastened that too.”
“That was honestly just a bad habit, and I did it without even realizing. Really, it was an accident.”
As Daisy started sniffling and listing off her grievances, Maxim seemed increasingly flustered.
“The truth is, I was holding back. I’m sorry. I thought I was exercising superhuman restraint, but I guess I still need more practice.”
Maxim added this sheepishly.
“There were a lot of eyes on us. If we’d gone any further, I probably would’ve lost control.”
Just remembering the wedding made Daisy’s head spin.
He couldn’t even control his libido with a crowd watching? No, with a madman like this, maybe he got more excited being on display.
Anyway, he was definitely not normal. She’d agreed to marry a fake husband destined for death, but somehow ended up tangled with a lunatic.
Chu.
“Don’t—”
Chu.
His lips brushed hers, just a light peck.
“That’s not a kiss, it’s just a peck. Still not allowed?”
“N-No, not even that… yet…”
“Ah, so even a peck is off limits. Sorry.”
He looked genuinely deflated.
“It’s just your lips are so soft I couldn’t help myself, Issy. Sorry.”
How many times was that now that he apologizes? Daisy lost count. With him apologizing so much, she felt bad pushing him any further.
“In the books, it said a kiss is supposed to involve biting lips and using tongues, so I just tried to follow the instructions. I was just trying to do it right, I honestly didn’t notice I was scaring you, Issy.”
He learned that from a book? That didn’t match his shameless hands at all.
He was way too good for someone who’d only read about it, but it would be weird to complain about that now.
“I’m sorry, Issy. I was an idiot. Please forgive me.”
Maxim pulled Daisy’s hand to his cheek, pleading for forgiveness with a surprisingly sincere gaze.
She always found his intense stare unnerving, but now, looking so desperate for forgiveness, her heart softened just a little.
“So… would it be alright if I kissed your hand instead of your lips?”
He didn’t miss his chance to ask.
It felt awkward to agree, but with all those apologies, refusing him seemed rude.
Daisy nodded slowly.
Chu, chu. Maxim pressed his lips to her palm, soft, warm, lingering just a bit too long for a light kiss.
Maxim looked up at her, and the puppy-dog eyes from before had already turned sharp as a hunting cat. Sure enough, he bared his teeth and nipped at her skin.
Daisy gasped, startled. Maxim just grinned and scattered kisses up and down each of her slender fingers.
“To be honest, even your fingers are so soft, too, Issy… They make my teeth itch.”
He wanted to bite her.
‘Psycho.’
Daisy quickly pulled her hand back, shocked by his weird comment.
Maxim didn’t seem to mind. Instead, he gritted his teeth as if suppressing himself and pulled her head gently to his chest.
A rush of clean soap and his own scent made Daisy’s head spin.
“If Easy doesn’t want it, I’ll never force you. Don’t worry.”
He kept patting and soothing her.
“Mmm, you smell really nice.”
He took a deep breath at her hairline.
‘Damn it, what kind of man sniffs someone else’s scalp? ‘
But the real problem wasn’t his canine nose… it was the fact that, under his robe, he was still raging hard, almost bursting.
“Uh, Max? Um, you know… down there…”
“This?”
She only said down there and Maxim’s gaze followed hers.
“It’s nothing.”
“That doesn’t look like nothing…”
“Honestly, just smelling you does this to me. Want to see?”
