Battle Divorce! - Chapter 15
Show her? Is he insane? Daisy’s face went completely pale.
“N-no, I— I’m scared… sniff, sob…”
She burst into tears, throwing herself between Maxim and his robe just as he started to open it.
“Ah, I almost messed up again. Thank you for stopping me. Don’t worry, this just happens automatically… Please ignore it.”
How was she supposed to ignore something that enormous?
She wanted to point it out, but with this man, she had a feeling he’d just say, ‘Shall I show you? For you, Issy, I’d be happy to,’ and wave his d**k around, so she clamped her mouth shut.
“I wasn’t trying to make you uncomfortable. This is all my fault, so please, don’t cry.”
But at least, when she cried, he really did listen.
He apologized yet again and even promised not to touch her without permission in the future.
Thanks to Vicky’s wisdom, Daisy barely managed to escape disaster.
“When you’re ready, just tell me.”
She nodded. Of course, she had no intention of ever being ‘ready, but for now, nodding was safest.
“Aren’t you hungry?”
“Huh? …Uh. No, I-I’m fine…”
Groooowl.
How embarrasing.
As her stomach growled, Daisy’s face turned bright red.
“See? You’re hungry. Crying always makes people hungry.”
“……”
“If you’re hungry, it just makes you feel worse. How about some meat to cheer you up?”
Would she really be able to eat in this situation? But now that she thought about it, she was kind of empty inside. She’d skipped a meal earlier, thanks to Maxim barging in and demanding she get ready for the wedding night.
“How about French rack steak?”
French rack steak… Actually, if it was lamb, maybe she’d feel a little better.
It was one of Daisy’s absolute favorites, and just thinking about it made her mouth water.
“For dessert, what about chocolate mousse?”
How did he know? Chocolate mousse was another favorite. Maxim had somehow guessed all of Daisy’s favorite foods, and was coaxing her with exactly the right words.
‘How does this man know my tastes so well….? Did he investigate me or something?’
There hadn’t even been time for that, since he’d married her and gone off to war almost immediately.
But maybe it was just a coincidence.
‘Or maybe he’d asked the staff.’
She’d never hidden her likes and dislikes, after all. Even the former Grand Duchess had scolded her for eating too much, and Daisy always showed how much she enjoyed her food, especially steak and desserts.
Even now, the thought of French rack steak and chocolate mousse made her heart skip a beat.
“…Alright.”
Daisy pretended to reluctantly agree, but answered softly. Maxim finally looked relieved.
“I’m glad you like it. I’ll have it prepared right away.”
When he was like this, he seemed as harmless as a lamb. Daisy felt a little embarrassed for being so scared earlier.
Maybe he’s a little crazy, but he’s not a bad guy.
Anyone who brings you food can’t be all bad.
Just then, as she was starting to feel a bit more at ease, Maxim’s lips curled into a sly smile as he hugged her.

Dining hall of the Waldeck manor—
When Maxim said he’d have dinner prepared, he meant immediately. The table was set in record time, though with one more person at the table, it somehow felt even more suffocating than usual.
Daisy sat there, chewing her French rack of lamb, unable to swallow.
‘How am I supposed to eat with him staring like that?’
More accurately, it was the feeling of being watched by two people that made it hard. Maxim von Waldeck, keeping a close eye to make sure she ate well, and the former Grand Duchess, watching just as closely to make sure she didn’t eat too well.
Since Maxim had come home unexpectedly late, even the former Grand Duchess had joined the meal, skipping her usual dinner time.
“Issy.”
Maxim called out the nickname without warning, making Daisy jump.
“You said you liked it, right?”
She forced herself to swallow the chunk of meat in her mouth.
“Liked what?”
“Tonight’s menu.”
“Oh. Yes, I like it.”
Even after her answer, Maxim’s expression was unconvinced.
“Then why aren’t you eating much?”
His face was so serious it felt like an interrogation. Daisy forced a smile.
“I am eating.”
“No, you’re barely touching your food.”
“Well, that’s because…”
It’s because of you that I can’t eat comfortably… Of course, there was no way Daisy could say that out loud. So she hesitated.
