From the start, only one thought had filled Daisy’s mind.

“What am I going to do…?”

Soaking in the tub, Daisy gnawed at her thumbnail like a nervous child.

Soft flower petals, fragrant oils, rich bubbles… This was a luxurious bath by anyone’s standards.

The bathroom, fogged with steam, felt as murky as her future.

“I’m totally screwed.”

Normally, she wasn’t the type to lose her cool so easily. Even on missions, unexpected situations were routine, and she’d always gotten by with quick thinking and improvisation.

But today, that very improvisation had gotten her into trouble.

Daisy recalled the words she’d blurted out to Maxim.

“…I, I’ll just go wash up first.”

Damn it. Of all things, why did she have to say that?

She’d bought herself some time, but the more she thought about it, the more she realized that ‘washing up’ was as good as agreeing to the wedding night.

And that wasn’t the worst part. Maxim’s response was even more outrageous.

“Perfect timing. I rushed over too, so I’d like to wash up as well.”

“……”

“Shall we bathe together?”

…Of course, that was an unusual answer.

The vulgar suggestion whispered in her ear made Daisy shiver. She was especially sensitive to anything said near her ears, and with his laid-back tone, Maxim had struck right at her weak spot.

“N-No way! Absolutely not!”

How embarrassing. She should have kept her voice down.

She’d gotten so flustered that her voice went up a pitch. For a moment, Maxim’s face showed a flicker of surprise. But then, his blue-grey eyes grew darker.

“Why not?”

“I, I always bathe alone! It’s uncomfortable if anyone sees.”

“No need to be shy between husband and wife.”

With a smirk, Maxim tucked her hair behind her ear like she was adorable.

“Alright. Go wash up, then.”

And just like that, Maxim ordered the maids to prepare his wife’s bath immediately, making it clear he’d wait for nothing.

The former Grand Duchess had looked at her like she was scandalous, and the maids had been a buzz of awkward excitement. At that moment, Daisy wished she could disappear into the dust of the universe.

And now, just remembering it made her want to die all over again.

“…This is crazy.”

To cool her burning face, Daisy splashed more water over herself.

No matter how quick-witted or easygoing someone might seem, everyone has their weak points.

For Daisy, it was ‘men’.

“This is so different from how I planned things.”

She knew there could be surprises on a mission, but she’d never expected things to go this far so suddenly.

He was supposed to be cannon fodder. Who could have predicted he would actually come home as a war hero?

All she’d signed up for was to play the part of a fake bride at a ceremonial wedding. The wedding night was never part of the plan.

“Well, we did kiss… I guess s*x isn’t that much further…”

She wondered if she should just grit her teeth and get it over with.

But.

“No, it’s not as simple as picking a dessert. Eating chocolate and eating chocolate cake are two totally different things.”

Besides, her husband was Maxim von Waldeck, the royal bloodhound known for his ruthless reputation.

Even if she’d decided to retire, Daisy had grown up among revolutionaries who despised the royal ‘pigs and dogs’.

The kiss at the wedding, the prayer that he might go to heaven… It was mercy she’d offered as a ‘child of God’. The Lord said to love even your enemies, after all.

She knew that, in her line of work, many agents had seduced royalists as lovers to gain information. Of course, that meant sleeping with them was required.

But Daisy’s specialty was assassination, not seduction, and she was completely clueless in this area.

She wasn’t exactly inflexible, so somehow she’d managed the kiss. But the idea of stripping down and actually having s*x, well. That was terrifying.

“Haaah…”

Well, she knew s*x meant having a man’s thing go inside down there, between her legs…

Daisy nervously traced a finger along her inner thigh, trying to picture it.

“It’s just… it’s too big. That’s what scares me…”

If he were average-sized, maybe she wouldn’t be so anxious. But what she’d felt pressing against her stomach—and what she’d felt—there was no denying Maxim was extra-large.
