Deal Breaker - Chapter 11
Before coming here, she’d read and reread the messages she’d exchanged with Iyeon more times than she could count.
[ I have a question about Han Kanghyeon sunbae-nim. ]
[ Oh my, rather than Han Kanghyeon, you’re calling me ‘sunbae-nim’. So cute >~< ]
[ ㅎㅎ ]
[ No, not Han Kanghyeon -_- I meant you, Hyeji-ssi ^^ ]
[ Thank you ]
[ Anyway, what did you want to know? ]
[ I’m just curious what kind of person he is ]
[ Why? Did Kanghyeon contact you? ]
[ Yes ]
[ Wow, that’s surprising… ]
Seeing his attitude here now, Hyeji felt she understood why Iyeon had said that.
[ So, what exactly are you curious about regarding Kanghyeon? ]
[ I remembered that last time, during matching, you called him ‘that guy’… ]
[ Ah ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ ]
[ Should I try to avoid him… ]
[ No, it’s just because we’re close from training together. ]
[ Ah, I see ㅎㅎ ]
[ He’s a bit lacking in manners, but he does know how to behave when it counts. ]
So Hyeji was left confused as to whether this was a recommendation or a warning.
[ If you do sign a contract, make sure to get a big signing bonus, salary, and bonus. He’s loaded. ]
[ Oh… ]
[ Ask for housing support too. Somewhere close to the company, in Gangnam. ]
[ Okay. ]
[ Oh, and ask him to get you a car for commuting. Since you’re S-Class, the car should be at least an S-Class too. ]
[ I don’t have a license tho ]
[ Then obviously, Kanghyeon should hire you a chauffeur! Oh, and while you’re at it, ask for a housekeeper too. ]
Are they really just friends? Iyeon gave her heartfelt advice on how to ‘take him for all he’s worth’.
[ Don’t feel bad. He really does have truckloads of money. And thanks to you, Hyeji-ssi, he’ll be making even more, so you deserve all of it. Go ahead and take what you’re owed, confidently. ]
[ Yes ㅎㅎ ]
[ With confidence!! ^^ ]
[ ㅎㅎ]
[ Repeat after me! Now! ]
[ With confidence!! ^^ ]
With confidence!!
With confidence.
With confidence…
Not sure if I can do it.
Hyeji snuck a glance at the man sitting across from her. He sat with his legs crossed and arms folded, leaning back in his chair as he observed her. His expression was so cold and rigid it was almost like marble.
The contract might say Hyeji held the upper hand as Party A, but here, it was this man who radiated the overwhelming sense of being in control. It was suffocating.
It would be a lie to say his looks didn’t play a big part in that.
It’s the photo’s fault. How could a picture that looked like it came out of a magazine not do justice to the real thing?
It must be because the photo couldn’t capture his physique, not just his face. When they first met in the hotel lobby, all she could see were his long, striking legs as he walked toward her. Before she even saw his face, she’d thought he was a model.
Every Esper she’d met so far had been the burly, muscular type, but this man had a lean build and gave off a completely different vibe.
If the others were like upperclassmen from the PE department, Han Kanghyeon felt like a business school sunbae—the kind you never saw in the library, but who always topped the class and bought meals for the underclassmen, yet never met anyone one-on-one. His neat looks made it easy to imagine him with glasses.
But then again, his shoulders were broad and his back formed a perfect V-shape.
It’s almost criminal.
His hands were really beautiful. Hyeji’s gaze lingered on the fingers drumming his forearm for a long time.
Seriously, he’s a cheat character.
Not only was he born good-looking, but he clearly took good care of himself. His nails, eyebrows, and skin were all tidy and flawless.
She had to admit that his looks were perfectly her type. The man uncrossed his legs, and Hyeji’s gaze naturally followed.
God must be fair, so… maybe he’s small?
She was thinking it might be better if he was on the smaller side, when—
“Noh Hyeji-ssi.”
“Yes?”
It was only when he suddenly called her name that she realized he was someone capable of reading minds. Come to think of it, even his abilities were on a whole other level.
To be negotiating a contract with a man who could read her every thought… She was starting to regret coming here, but before deciding whether to leave or stay, there was something she had to do first.
“I’m sorry.”
“What are you sorry for?”
The man tilted his head slightly and narrowed his eyes. Watching that insolent attitude, stock drama dialogue flashed through her mind, like ‘Tell me what you did wrong’, or ‘Do you even know what you’re apologizing for?’.
“I had some disrespectful thoughts…”
“Inhibitor.”
“Ah.”
She’d learned during training that he normally couldn’t use his powers, but she’d forgotten.
“A rookie really is a rookie.”
He let out a brief laugh, then went back to being serious.
“So, what exactly were these disrespectful thoughts about me?”
“It’s not what you’re thinking right now.”
“And what am I thinking?”
“You’re thinking something dirty… aren’t you?”
“You’re the one having dirty thoughts and blaming me.”
“I wasn’t thinking anything dirty. It’s just… you seem so perfect that, honestly, I started to wonder if God really is fair…”
“Ah.”
Did he understand which way she meant that? She could see his eyes moving under his lowered eyelids, as if in disbelief.
“Is p***s size a contract condition too?”
Hyeji nodded. It wasn’t before, but from now on, p***s size was definitely a contract condition.
How could she forget something so important?
What if you opened the package thinking it was a popsicle, only to find shrimp crackers? If it turned out to be a pink sausage the size of his forearm, that would be a problem.
