“More than that, I feel bad that because of me, Lady Irene couldn’t participate in the Princess’s gathering. If you’re not part of any social circles here, it can get quite difficult.”

Cynthia, with a slightly downcast tone, expressed her concern, prompting Reyna to cautiously suggest an idea.

“Well, about that, Miss Cynthia—you’re right that it’s better to be part of a circle, so I was thinking…Why don’t we make a group of our own?”

“Huh?”

Irene’s eyes widened at the unexpected proposal.

“I was actually invited into the Princess’s circle,” explained Reyna. “But I couldn’t join in the end. There was some issue with another 1st-grade purifier, and she opposed my inclusion. So, I didn’t pay much attention to the Princess’s gatherings either.”

As she said that, Reyna looked at the bloodstains on her clothes.

“But now that I’ve seen what happened in the advanced dungeon, I realize that it’s not something to ignore, because that dungeon is where the people who were in conflict with the Princess’s circle entered. None of the knights from her circle arrived to help them.”

She realized that during the dungeon raid, the strong purifiers, including the Princess, were all attending the gathering. This meant that even the knights whose pairs were in attendance also remained in the fortress.

‘I guess only someone like Michael could move alone.’

Other knights wouldn’t dare enter a dungeon without a purifier. As a circle of powerful purifiers, it stands to reason that their partners were also the strongest knights in the fortress. To conduct a raid on a high-level dungeon without them was unthinkable. Sheer numbers alone weren’t enough to conquer a dungeon.

“Plus, everyone has been making excuses for not doing anything when I’ve asked for help,” added Reyna. “If it weren’t for the few knights and Sir Michael, this raid would have been a total disaster.”

Reyna’s words caught Cynthia’s attention.

“They probably deliberately chose not to act. They must have wanted to make it clear that we shouldn’t even dream of entering a high-level dungeon without them.”

Irene sympathized with what they both said. The Princess had done the same thing in the past.
In the beginning, she would never help anyone outside of her circle when they went to raid a dungeon. Then, when the damage was done with injuries sustained and lives lost, the rest of them would eventually bow down to join her circle.

‘Maybe that’s why she was so obsessed with Michael.’

Maybe she was trying to lure him in because he was the only knight who could ignore the Princess’s gatherings.

While Irene was lost in thought, Reyna glanced over at her and spoke softly.

“We all need a circle, but I don’t think we can all fit into the Princess’s circle, so the only way to do that is to create a new one, right?”

Cynthia quickly chimed in. “That’s right. Reyna is a Grade 2 purifier, and Irene is Sir Michael’s pair and she possesses the Infinite Healing artifact.”

Their eyes lit up with excitement, and Irene felt a little embarrassed.

“Uh, just to let you know in advance, Sir Michael isn’t someone who particularly needs my purification.”

“But didn’t he urgently ask Miss Irene to be his pair on Contract Night?”

“That was under rather unusual circumstances, and usually, I rarely see him. Look, today, he went to a high-level dungeon, but here I am.”

“Still, if we were to organize a raid, wouldn’t he help at least once?” asked Reyna.

As someone who was very close to her own knight, Reyna couldn’t fathom anyone not having a strong bond with their pair.

“In a difficult situation, he’d help anytime, but whether he’d respond to personal requests, I’m not quite sure,” Irenus replied, thinking of Michael.

He seemed more comfortable talking to her and came by more often than he did in the past. However, he still wanders through the dungeons alone.

Besides, Irene thought it would be impudent of her to ask for help when she was planning on breaking their pair and leaving.

Just then, there was another knock on the door, followed by a voice.

“Irene, your pair, Sir Michael, is asking to see you.”
