‘Why am I getting so irritated?’

Nisha’s expression of indifference, her voice that made it all seem so natural; it all infuriated Kagan to the point he couldn’t bear it. Sometimes, something would well up inside him, but he refrained from raising his voice or showing his anger. He feared that the distance they had managed to close would grow wide again if he did.

The woman who had eased the lifelong pain he had suffered so effortlessly, without asking for anything in return.

“I’m your wife, yes. A sacrificial wife.”

“And after all, you said I was a sacrifice. I don’t think it’s such a bad thing.”

Suddenly, her words came back to him.

It was strange when he thought about it. Kagan had never called Nisha a sacrifice, yet she naturally referred to herself as one.

‘Where did things go wrong?’

A headache began to throb in his skull.

He massaged his face and let out a short sigh, trying to quell the nausea swirling in his head.

But no, that wasn’t the issue at hand.

From now on, he had to figure out a way to make her use her powers less.

Right now, she was wasting her abilities far too much. Occasionally, it was necessary for her to use them to show something extraordinary.

Unfortunately, as her husband and Kagan, it wasn’t something he could avoid asking of her.

But there was no need to recklessly use her powers like this.

The reason her ability was so revered was because it wasn’t something you saw every day.

Yet, she was constantly using it like someone in a hurry, draining and recharging her energy over and over again.

If the method of recharging was at least reasonable, he wouldn’t say anything.

But it was through that unsettling, dangerous method she used.

“I just want to hold her.”

Kagan murmured softly, his head tilting back absentmindedly.

While his tastes leaned more toward the battlefield, where blood splattered and wars raged, all his tasks these days involved sitting at a desk, wracking his brain.

‘…Should I just ask her out on a date?’

Xieman stood up from his seat, his head still leaning back.

Yes, it would be better to get her out of the room before she drowned in unnecessary thoughts.

Acting on his thoughts immediately was both his strength and his weakness.

But in this case, he was confident it was something necessary for his relationship with her.

He crossed the corridor and lightly knocked before swinging the door wide open, only to be greeted by the sight of pale skin as she was in the middle of changing her clothes…

“…Ah.”

“Kyaaah!!”

Bang-!

A scream that could make anyone freeze was followed by a loud slam as the door shut forcefully right in front of him.

Well, more accurately, Kagan had flung the door shut with all his strength.

“……”

The image of her bare white skin floated before his eyes for a moment, but as he shook his head, it dissipated like smoke.

That wasn’t what he had intended.

He had just expected to find her sitting by the window, as usual, maybe sipping tea or doing something calm.

‘…But wait, why should it matter between a married couple?’

He blinked as the thought crossed his mind.

Though he had instinctively slammed the door shut, startled by her shrill reaction…

‘It’s not like I haven’t seen it before…’

He’d seen her many times.

Even on the bed… and occasionally while she bathed.

‘Was it because the maid was there that she got embarrassed?’

As Kagan stood leaning against the door, arms crossed in thought, the door opened cautiously a moment later.

It was Nisha’s maid, Mary, peeking out with her face flushed bright red.

‘…Why is she even redder than before?’

He raised an eyebrow, curious about her beet-red appearance, looking like a tomato about to burst.

“Her Highness… no, The Katun asks you to come in.”

“Ah, right.”

Finally snapping out of his thoughts, Kagan pushed open the slightly ajar door and stepped inside.

‘…Now what is this about?’
