Kagan froze for a moment as he looked at the woman standing before him, red as a ripe tomato. Her neck and earlobes were flushed, making her appear as if she might burst at any second.

“…Nisha?”

“…Yes.”

“Sorry about that… I didn’t think you’d be washing up and changing at this time.”

Kagan gave a stiff apology, his eyes studying her face with an unfamiliar feeling.

“I was working in the garden, so I got sweaty and hot…”

Nisha stammered, her face still flushed, trying to explain.

He nodded awkwardly, his face heating up as if her embarrassment was contagious.

This strange, unfamiliar feeling—something akin to embarrassment—made Kagan rub his face a couple of times, glancing at her out of the corner of his eye.

Nisha, seemingly lost in thought, turned her head to stare out the window for a long moment. She let out a long breath before speaking.

“Why did you come here?”

“Oh, nothing urgent. I just thought we could go out and get some fresh air.”

“Well, if you want to…”

Nisha, her face still flushed, began to nod in agreement.

“Uh, maybe… today it would be better to rest indoors, Tun,”

Mary interjected quietly.

Kagan’s eyebrow twitched at the sudden interruption, and the other maids, Anita and Jaya, standing nearby, visibly paled.

“Why?”

At his question, Mary closed her eyes tightly and began to speak.

“Well, Tun’s skin is sensitive… If she stays outside too long, she gets sunburned. I think she may have gotten a bit burned today too…”

“Mary, I’m fine.”

Nisha quickly interrupted, grabbing at Mary’s sleeve.

At that moment, Kagan’s gaze shifted to Nisha’s unusually flushed skin.

‘So it wasn’t embarrassment that made her red…’

It was just the heat?

Kagan blinked dumbfoundedly.

‘But that scream earlier…’

Hadn’t Nisha been the one who screamed?

“I apologize for Mary’s scream earlier.”

“…Oh.”

So the scream had come from her.

Upon closer inspection, Nisha did seem a little embarrassed, but that was all.

Her skin was definitely red, and it was clearly from the sun, not embarrassment.

“…No, it’s fine.”

Finding his earlier assumptions ridiculous, Kagan waved his hand dismissively.

Who would’ve thought that it wasn’t Nisha but a mere maid who had screamed like that?

As he glanced at Mary, she bowed her head, her face pale.

“I’m sorry. When someone entered while the Tun was changing clothes, I reacted reflexively…”

“No, it was my fault for knocking and then opening the door without properly waiting for an answer.”

If we were to assign blame, it would lie with Kagan for knocking and immediately opening the door without waiting for permission from inside.

“But if all this redness is from the sunlight, it’s serious… What the hell were you doing outside, Princess?”

“I was just… taking care of some plants. The sun was too strong, and many of them were withering.”

“Ah, well, the climate here isn’t exactly easy.”

It’s true that the climate wasn’t very conducive to growing plants.

Still, the plants in Nisha’s small garden were growing quite well, considering the circumstances.

Given how foreign plants tended to quickly wither in Xieman’s climate, this was especially impressive.

He studied Nisha leisurely for a moment before gesturing lightly.

“Going outside seems like too much right now. Let’s just have tea together instead. Prepare it.”

“No, it’s fine. I can go out.”

“I don’t mind. I just wanted to see you, that’s all.”

Kagan replied curtly, settling into the chair opposite Nisha.

Her head tilted in curiosity as she saw his somewhat sullen expression.

“Why that face, Kagan?”

“What face?”

“You just… look like a pouting child.”

“Me? Well… maybe it’s because I don’t like that you’re growing things in my garden that are draining your life force.”

Nisha’s lips clamped shut at Kagan’s words.

There was nothing she could say in response to that.

Seeing her silence, Kagan burst into laughter.

“My princess, how are you always so easy to read?”

He chuckled softly, resting his palm on the table and leaning in closer to press a kiss to Nisha’s cheek.

Smooch-.
