I Became a Barbarian's Bride - Chapter 129
Nisha’s eyes widened at the light kiss.
She blinked, startled, and Kagan, seeing her expression, leaned in again, planting another kiss on her lips.
This time, Nisha couldn’t hide her surprise as she opened her mouth.
“…Kagan?”
“Yes, princess?”
“…No, just now, that was—”
“It was an expression of my affection for you. Didn’t I tell you? You need to understand how important you are.”
Still, kissing her without warning, where was the sense in that?
Seeing the blush spreading across her startled face, Kagan widened his eyes slightly and let out a soft chuckle.
“So, my princess gets this expression when she’s embarrassed.”
It was certainly different from before.
Her stiff face and the sight of her reddened neck stood out.
With her skin already flushed from the sun, the deepening blush made Nisha fan herself as if the heat was too much to bear.
“I told you, princess, your existence alone has value. And I’m going to show you that value.”
He whispered, saying she needed to experience being truly loved first.
Nisha, flustered, waved her hand in protest, unsure of how much more embarrassed she could get when she was already feeling overwhelmed.
“I’m fine, really.”
“Even if you’re fine, I’m not. I hate being played with.”
He didn’t specify who, but Nisha easily understood what was missing.
God.
The God of Xieman who loved the country so much that he demanded sacrifices from the Katun.
‘It’s strange…’
She wondered why Kagan would feel this way when it wasn’t even about him.
Through past conversations, she had understood why the previous King hated the god.
Adin, the God of Xieman, had stolen the brilliant future from the most precious Katun of the previous King.
That explained his hatred and resentment.
And yet, he couldn’t bring himself to abandon Xieman and reluctantly passed it onto his son.
But why would Kagan hate the god?
‘Was it because his mother lost her sight?’
That didn’t seem to fit, given how detached he appeared when they met…
Nisha shook her head at the thought,
It wasn’t something for her to dwell on.
This wasn’t her concern.
Her role was to do as Kagan asked, enjoy a peaceful life in Xieman, and help it prosper until she quietly closed her eyes for the last time.
“Princess.”
When she lifted her head, Kagan was resting his chin on his hand, looking at her with a slight smile.
Nisha tilted her head slightly.
Kagan’s gentle and soft expression as he looked at Nisha only piqued her curiosity even more.
“Should I kill him for you?”
“…What?”
Startled, Nisha’s eyes widened.
She had momentarily misunderstood who the subject of “Should I kill him for you?” referred to.
‘Did he somehow figure out what I was thinking?’
Her body tensed up as she stared at Kagan, barely breathing. His lips moved once more.
“The Emperor of Roshan.”
“…What?”
“Your father, the Emperor. I was wondering if I could kill him for you.”
At his sudden and unexpected question, Nisha blinked, trying to gauge his intent.
She couldn’t understand what lay behind the casual words, but Kagan’s relaxed smile stayed in place as he looked at her, fully aware of her tense gaze.
‘What is he thinking?’
Nisha’s mind began to race.
Her body trembled slightly, a reaction Kagan took note of before continuing.
“I don’t want you to suffer anymore. Roshan has fertile lands and grows crops well. It wouldn’t hurt to claim it entirely as part of Xieman, not just as a vassal state.”
“Ah…”
With that added explanation, Nisha finally understood what he was saying, her tense shoulders relaxing visibly, making her look much more at ease than before.
