I Became a Barbarian's Bride - Chapter 141
“Do you really think lying there cold and stiff is some sort of preference of yours? Unless… you actually have a taste for that kind of thing?”
His tone was light, but he was serious.
Nisha quickly shook her head.
How did this conversation suddenly veer into discussing such absurd preferences?
As she stared at him in disbelief, Kagan’s expression grew even more earnest.
“Don’t think that dying and coming back to life is something good for your body.”
“…I’ve never thought that.”
“Good. Don’t ever think that way. You should only use your power when you truly want to. Preferably, not at all.”
Still held in his arms, Nisha let out a low chuckle.
“Ahaha…!”
All the worrying thoughts she had seemed so foolish now.
She had believed that if Kagan found out about her power, something bad would inevitably happen.
Whether she’d be experimented on, constantly asked for favors, or even exploited.
But instead, here he was, telling her not to use her power, even for the sake of Xieman.
Who could resist such words?
As Nisha clutched her stomach, bending over with laughter, Kagan, on the other hand, seemed slightly taken aback by her reaction.
“N-Nisha? Are you okay? Are you hurt somewhere, or… did I tickle you or something…?”
Kagan rambled, adding all sorts of nonsensical comments as he shook his head.
It was because Nisha had suddenly turned around to face him, now sitting on his thigh.
Of course, she had been on his lap from the beginning, but now she was directly facing him…
“Uh…”
Kagan blinked, taking a deep breath.
“Princess? I think it’d be better if you scooted back a bit… I mean…”
His voice trailed off as he tried to explain the involuntary reaction his body was having.
Nisha blinked at him, realizing what he meant as something unmistakably stirred between her legs, nudging persistently in the water.
She looked at him with a slightly overwhelmed expression.
“I’m just healthy, that’s all,” Kagan quickly added, meeting her eyes.
“Oh, right.”
Her curt response made him groan softly in frustration as he sighed.
Nisha, with a small smile playing on her lips, reached out and placed her warm hand over his eyelids.
“Princess…!”
“You said if I wanted to, I could do it.”
Nisha’s voice stopped him in his tracks as he was about to move his hand towards her.
“You’re the one who said it, Kagan. If it’s something I want, then it’s fine, isn’t it?”
“…Princess.”
“I want to heal you. That’s all. I’m not thinking of anything else right now.”
At Nisha’s words, Kagan furrowed his brow.
He couldn’t figure out how to refuse this.
It was her choice.
He knew that.
She had said so herself, saying she wanted to do it, so he shouldn’t go against her wishes. But it made him wonder if this meant that from now on, she could just say she wanted to do something, and everything would go this way.
“I want to.”
Perhaps noticing the slight twitch in Kagan’s fingers, Nisha quietly added.
“You were the first person to say something like that to me…”
At Nisha’s words, Kagan’s lips subtly tightened.
“So, think of it as a gift. This much, it’s something I want to do, right?”
Her neck warming, Nisha spoke as she used her ability.
The pure white light spread out and soon began to seep into Kagan’s eyes.
Feeling the cool and refreshing sensation from her fingertips, Kagan unconsciously exhaled a low breath, finally relaxing the tension he had been holding in his shoulders.
Up until now, he had been managing the pain by using cigars.
Even that had been gradually reduced since Nisha had entered his life, making it harder to deal with the pain.
