I Give Up on the BL Novel's Male Leads - Chapter 12
Though it was my first day meeting Marian, I knew she was straightforward. With Willai keeping his mouth shut, it seemed that she was a family of higher rank than Viscounty.
“If you’re not going to help, better keep quiet. I might say something out of irritation.”
Marian warned Willai, leading him to shut up and cross his arms in dissatisfaction.
“The peas are perfectly boiled. I’ll take care of slicing them.”
“Okay, I’ll go grab some frog tears.”
Marian moved towards the front of the class to collect more ingredients. The professor would line up the desk and check the materials the student took as it could explode.
I reassured myself by checking the book, but found no mistakes.
After cutting the peas neatly and adding them to the cauldron.
“Seems like you’re enjoying the attention from the Count’s daughter, you beggar.”
“Yes, I love it. It’s thrilling. The best.”
I gave him that answer. He tried to leave as Marian returned.
“I’ve brought the yellow-red peacock feathers too. Should I prep them?”
“Sure.”
With Marian’s efficient preparation of the frog tears and yellow-red peacock feathers, the assembly didn’t take long.
As the potion-making class was wrapping up, Marian said.
“Thierry.”
“You can call me Illein.”
She smiled as she checked the name tag on my chest.
“Then you call me Marian.”
“Alright.”
Then she smiled sweetly and said,
“See you tomorrow.”
“Yes, see you.”
I was a bit worried about the item to bring for the next class.
The next class after Magical Potions was Astrology. The problem occurred during Astrology class.
– Knock knock.
“What’s the matter?”
The Astrology professor was about to start the lecture by projecting constellations
“Actually….”
A student from Class 10 came up to speak to the astrology professor. It seemed to be a student I had seen during Magical Potions class earlier.
I couldn’t hear their conversation from my seat, so I watched the constellations being projected by the professor.
Astrology wasn’t particularly difficult for me, but it was the class I struggled with the most. The class was conducted in the dark with the lights turned off and the constellations projected above us. The professor’s voice was as quiet and thin as Capricorn, yet soothing.
It felt like the environment was coaxing me, who was sleep-deprived, to sleep, but of course, I couldn’t afford to.
For me, who slept four hours a day, sleepy classes like this one were the most difficult. Sleeping in class meant I had to make up for it by studying even more. Plus, using magic drained my energy, making it even harder to stay awake.
Above all, the professor took reports very seriously.
“Really?”
“Yes!”
Suddenly, the professor’s thin voice shouted, and this moment snapped me out of my drowsiness. I had almost heard the voice of a jazz singer in my ears as I was about to doze off.
“A theft has occurred in Class 10!”
Bellaine Academy was an academy made up of high-ranking nobles. So they rarely had incidents of students taking others’ belongings.
“There has been a report from a student in Class 10…”
The astrology professor looked uneasy and frowned.
“It seems that the culprit might be in this class.”
I glanced at the student from Class 10. I hadn’t seen the face clearly before, but now it was clearly visible.
It was Alisha, a close friend of Willai, who often teased me. Given she was Willai’s friend, her smile didn’t seem to carry a good intention. It looked more like she was plotting something sinister.
“Please return to your class for now, Alisha.”
“Yes, Professor.”
The astrology professor looked a bit flustered but then proceeded to the front of the class, perhaps to continue the lesson.
Then, suddenly, the professor wielded his wand. I wondered which constellation he would explain next, but then.
“We will pause the lesson for a moment.”
The lights turned on, and the constellations disappeared.
With the room brightened, I came to my senses. The drowsiness from the darkness had completely lifted.
“As I mentioned earlier, there has been a theft in Class 10.”
The professor continued seriously. I was looking at the professor, then suddenly,
“The Astrology professor has parsley stuck in his front teeth.”
Damon whispered to me quietly from behind.
“Huh!“
I almost wheezed without realizing it so I held my breath.
It wasn’t visible in the dark, but as the lights turned on, a piece of parsley was suddenly visible, stuck in the Astrology professor’s front teeth. It was not small.
The moment my eyes met with the astrology professor, I straightened up and tried not to laugh by looking straight ahead.
“Everyone, close your eyes.”
Closing my eyes seemed a bit risky. Given my lack of sleep, I wasn’t sure I could avoid falling asleep if I did.
However, I didn’t resist and closed my eyes.
And then, the surrounding sounds began to feel distant, as if I might fall asleep at any moment.
If I started hearing the voice of a jazz singer, that would be the end of it.
By the time I snapped back to reality, the class might have already ended.
