I Give Up on the BL Novel's Male Leads - Chapter 140
Willai stepped closer to Illein, trying to reach for her while consciously hiding his arm behind his back.
It seemed he still hadnāt given up on wanting to make a good impression on Illenas.
Though various threats swirled in his mind, the moment he thought of Illenas, they failed to make it past his lips.
“Illein.”
Perhaps fearing that this could really be the last time he saw Illenas, Willaiās eyes glistened with tears as he spoke.
“Iām really reflecting on my actions. So, you know⦠I donāt really need you to agree to anything, but could you let me meet Illenas?”
“ā¦What?”
“I mean, itās fine if I face the consequences. I should be punished. But if Iām going to be punished, shouldnāt Illenas be the one to do it? Iām scared that if she finds out Iāve tormented you, she wonāt forgive me.”
“ā¦.”
“Illenas and I are⦠thinking positively about each other. Maybe itās because of this incident that I canāt say anything to you.”
Willai was saying whatever suited his agenda.
The problem was that he genuinely believed it, which made it all the more frustrating.
Illein, however, couldnāt comprehend how Willai could lie so shamelessly. Yet, his sincerity was chilling.
“What if I submitted this memory to the police?”
Illein warned the five of them with that statement.
“If you come here again, I wonāt just sit back. So everyone, behave yourselves.”
As she said this, she turned to leave completely. But then Phenon pulled out his wand and shouted,
“Stop right there!”
Illein was taken aback by Phenon’s actions. She hadnāt expected to be threatened to this extent.
“Hey, Willai, where do you think youāre going?”
“Illenas canāt see my disgraceful self. Iām leaving.”
“Not without me.”
“Me too.”
“Ugh, youāre annoying.”
The others, except for Phenon, climbed into the carriage they had arrived in and left.
It was as if they had already heard from their lawyers about the severe penalties that would come if they threatened Illein with a wand.
“Hey! Are you guys really leaving without any loyalty?”
Phenon, left alone, looked at Illein.
“What are you going to do now?”
When Illein asked this, Phenon lowered his wand and said,
“Hey! Just give me one more chance! If I get expelled like this, my dad will seriously kill me!”
“You all tried to get me expelled. So why should I have a reason to let you off the hook?”
Illein also pulled out her wand.
“If weāre going to duel, then letās do it.”
She recalled the lightning magic she had learned from Edwin. Ever since learning that magic, she had become less afraid of duels.
“Are you really going to fight me? Do you think you can beat me?”
“Yeah.”
Illein tightened her grip on her wand as she said this.
“You’re the one who barged in here. And if I attack you, itās justified self-defense because this is private property.”
“Youā¦!”
“Iām still not confident in my control of power. Do you want to test that?”
Illein spoke only the truth. She coldly declared this as she prepared to swing her wand.
“Just because you think you’re pretty! If Alisha hadnāt been uninterested in you, you wouldāve been trampled to death!”
Phenon summoned flames filled with rage. In response, Illein quickly created a barrier of water.
– Sizzle!
Fire met water, creating a dense cloud of steam around them.
“What theā?”
“The amount and quality of my magic is superior to yours.”
Illein warned him to back down with those words. However, he ignored the words and summoned another fiery pillar.
“I wonāt let this go!”
Illein created a thick wall of water, extinguishing his flames, then poured it over his head.
– Splash!
“Ah! Hey!”
She glared coldly at Phenon as he became completely soaked.
“No matter how talented you think you are, youāre just a water mage! And you dare mess with me, a fire mage?”
Phenon shouted back, furious.
He knew all too well that water magic was primarily healing-focused and lacked powerful offensive spells. Unless Illein could conjure a typhoon with wind magic, which she surely couldn’t at this point, she was at a disadvantage.
“If it comes down to it, Iāll knock you out here and forcibly take that agreement!”
He thought of the memory-erasing potion he kept hidden in his pocket. With that, even if she confessed, she wouldnāt be able to extract any memories from him.
“Donāt regret this!”
Of course, it wasnāt a legal potion. Phenon summoned a pillar of fire with all his might.
– Rumble! Bang! Bang!
Then, in a moment of cold fury, Illein shot lightning at him.
“Ugh!”
Phenon collapsed, struck by the bolt.
“Hah!”
Illein sighed in relief. She then healed him with her magic.
Once she confirmed he was completely healed, she tried to calm her racing heart.
Yet she couldnāt shake off the anxiety of potentially being late, pushing back the fear that made her heart pound.
“This is all your doing, Phenon.”
With those words, she turned away from him. Determined to report this incident to the police, she quickened her steps.
