Despite that, he wanted to express the emotion he felt to Illein. However, he felt a bit embarrassed about voicing it aloud.

“It seems like you think that when you give something material, it should be repaid with something material, but that’s not right. I run a successful business and come from a wealthy family. To me, material things aren’t that significant.”

Unable to contain his embarrassment, Damon decided to stuff a croissant into Illein’s mouth to keep her quiet.

“Umm…”

Illein understood his intention but accepted the food since she was hungry.

“What I really value more than those things is the comfort and security you provide. When I’m with you, I feel those things and get butterflies at the same time.”

“Uhp…”

“Just finish eating.”

As he said this, he pushed another croissant into her mouth the moment she was done chewing and swallowing the first one.

“So don’t worry too much. I cherish our relationship just as much.”

Illein couldn’t answer Damon’s words. She was too busy trying to get the croissant she had in her mouth down.

“Well, I understand your feelings, and I won’t pry into what you don’t want to answer.”

Damon chuckled at the sight of Illein. Her cheeks were puffed out like a hamster’s, making her look adorably comical.

“But it’s okay for me to find out, right?”

Illein wanted to tell him not to do that, but Damon interrupted her before she could say anything.

“I’ll do it anyway, even if you try to stop me.”

As he said this, Damon cut her off. His resolute demeanor made Illein give up her attempts to argue.

In a way, she felt resigned. After all, Damon wasn’t the type to listen to reason anyway.

Damon noticed the change in Illein’s expression and smiled with satisfaction. This was the conclusion he wanted.

What was the situation? He could figure out the details by making educated guesses based on her reactions. Growing up in an environment filled with silence and as a member of the nobility, that was an easy task for him.

Damon half-opened his eyes and casually threw a question at Illein.

“Is it because of Willai’s group?”

“Ugh, ah…!”

Illein was caught off guard by the sudden question and inadvertently choked a bit. Damon felt more convinced and pressed on.

“So is it Willai or Maxinon? They’re both suspended. Surely they wouldn’t have come to the academy…”

As Damon continued, Illein’s face hardened in alarm. She kept bowing her head as she struggled not to cough.

“Surely Willai didn’t come to ask for an introduction to Illenas, right?”

Damon continued to piece together his deductions based solely on Illein’s expression. At his cold question, she felt an immediate urge to shout no. However, the fantastic combination of her unending cough and hiccups rendered her unable to respond.

“If that crazy guy did, I wouldn’t be surprised. But how did he manage to get to school? There’s a magic barrier preventing outsiders from entering the academy.”

Doubt quickly turned into questions, and those questions painted more and more specific scenarios in his mind. As the conversation flowed, Damon fleshed out his theory.

“Did he wear an academy uniform?”

He asked, just in case. Damon’s suspicion quickly solidified into certainty when he saw Illein’s expression.

“Oh, I see. Willai was here.”

Although Damon’s face was smiling, his eyes had grown icy. Who could it be? Who helped Willai gain entry to the academy?

The academy typically does not allow outsiders to intrude. This rule applies even when one is suspended.

Even someone under suspension is not permitted entry just because they wear the uniform. It would be impossible without some form of assistance from someone else.

That’s why Damon’s demeanor turned ominous. A foul odor began to rise from the situation, and he couldn’t shake the thought that it was targeting Illein.

“D-Damon!”

How grim must his demeanor have been that Illein turned pale and looked at him with unease?

The sense Damian gave off was deeply unsettling.

“Ah, this is my son Melias.”

Marquis Wignum introduced his son to the judges.

Melias had left the academy just before lunch and arrived at the VVIP room of the hotel, still dressed in his uniform.

This was a hotel personally owned by Marquis Wignum, making it a comfortable place for him to come and go at any time.

For that reason, secret social gatherings like this one often took place here.

“I look forward to working with you. I am Melias Wignum.”

“Haha! Your son has grown quite well, my lord.”

“Indeed, he resembles you very much, Marquis.”

“He’s tall and handsome; once he graduates from the academy, he’s destined for a significant role in the future.”

The three judges were very friendly toward Marquis Wignum.

Thus, they naturally showed goodwill toward Melias as well.

Two of the three judges assigned to Illein’s trial had ties to the Candelaria family and had already engaged in discussions with Damon.
