I Give Up on the BL Novel's Male Leads - Chapter 171
Illein found it amusing and laughed brightly before letting go of his finger.
Melias flinched, then, feeling a little empty, reached for her hand, only to stop midway and stir the air in vain.
Melias seemed embarrassed as his face turned red.
The expression he had now made him look like a young boy experiencing his first love, despite his large, well-built frame, which made the term âboyâ seem a bit out of place.
Illein found it intriguing that Melias was showing so many new expressions today, ones she hadnât seen before. Together, they made their way to the fourth-year building.
It was now time for them to part ways and go to their respective classrooms. Melias couldnât hide his disappointment.
“May I walk you to Class 1?”
He asked, hoping to spend a little more time with her.
“No, thatâs not necessary.”
Illeinâs refusal cut short Meliasâs hope, and he couldnât help but linger a little longer, still reluctant to leave.
Illein felt sorry as Melias showed his disappointment with his whole body, gently took his finger, only to let it go again. Though she wanted to stay with him, she knew they had to part ways now.Â
For both her sake and his.
At the academy, they were both still men. Melias knew that, but his lingering feelings had made him act impulsively.
Melias took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. After shaking off his disappointment, he shyly nodded.
Illein couldnât help but feel her heart flutter at his response, so she hurried to her class. She was afraid she might make a mistake if she stayed longer.
As she neared the entrance to her class, she unconsciously turned her head and saw that Melias was still standing where they had parted, watching her.
Illein paused for a moment, then waved to him with her eyes before entering the classroom.
“Whatâs this? Were you two that close?”
Just as she stepped inside, Damon appeared from nowhere and asked as he walked in alongside her.
“Ah, Damon!”
Illein tried to hide her surprise at his sudden appearance but was still taken aback. She couldnât even guess when he had shown up.
She was briefly worried whether he had been watching her and Melias, but it didnât seem like it.
If he had been, his expression would have shown suspicion, but that wasnât the case.
Nevertheless, Damon didnât seem to be in the best mood.
He was smiling with a strange expression, and though others might not notice, Illein could read his face easily since she had known him for a while.
On the surface, it seemed like a smile, but his eyes told a different story. To someone familiar with Damon, it was clear he was annoyed.
“Since when did you two get so close?”
As expected, Damonâs tone had a hidden criticism for being left out.
Illein quickly tried to answer, but before she could, Damon threw his arm around her shoulders and started guiding her to her seat, causing her to miss the chance to respond.
Because of Damonâs taller stature, walking together made her feel off-balance, and she had to focus on walking properly instead of answering.
It wasnât until they were almost at their seats that Illein finally replied.
“I became close with Melias recently.”
“How did that happen?”
But Damonâs reaction was sharper than usual. Normally, heâd brush it off, but today, he seemed unusually persistent.
“We just spent more time together.”
Illein gave a vague answer, not feeling confident in her response.
“Then I must be your closest friend, huh? Iâve spent the most time with you.”
With this, Damonâs face suddenly brightened. Illein, confused by the change in his mood, didnât quite understand.
But one thing was clearâwhen it came to friends, Damon was the only one she had. He was her only true friend.
“Of course, Damon is my closest friend!”
Damonâs irritation seemed to vanish, and he looked at Illein with his characteristic bright smile.
“So, whoâs your best friend, Damon?”
Illein asked, and without hesitation, Damon answered.
“Youâre the most precious and special person to me.”
Damon said this as they reached their seats. He was about to sit at his desk but instead moved over to sit next to Illein.
“Damon?”
Illein looked at him, puzzled by his unexpected behavior.
“What if Prince Rodein comes in?”
Damon replied seriously.
“Ah! Thanks, Damon.”
Illein smiled, grateful for his thoughtfulness.
The classroom was nearly empty. Since it was still early, the only student present was lying down, trying to sleep.
Illein sat at her desk, ready to start her usual study session, opening her notebook. She immediately began to concentrate on her work.
In reality, everything Illein thought she was focusing on, thinking she was not hearing anything around her, was actually because Damon had been quietly blocking out all the surrounding noise.Â
Illein didnât realize that this kind of consideration from him was not a first.
So, the seemingly ordinary, but extraordinary day continued.
