I Give Up on the BL Novel's Male Leads - Chapter 124
Once Illein and Edwin disappeared, Melias fixed his gaze on Damon, who was grinning like a fox.
“You sly fox.”
“Youāre a bear of a man.”
The two exchanged jibes as they started walking.
Damon cast a silence spell around them and continued speaking as they walked together.
“Iām heading to check on the magistrate. I know who will be appearing at the trial.”
Damon said this with a hint of swagger. It was well understood throughout the empire that if someone from Candelaria Duchy showed up, any biased verdict would be possible.
“Iāll be going to the police station. I want to help validate the evidence we’ve gathered so that it can all be accepted. And⦔
“Letās keep personal revenge between us. Donāt be sneaky and do it all on your own.”
Damon quickly interrupted Melias as he began to mention personal revenge.
“Personally, I can seek revenge on everyone except for the Macintosh family. Our family owns the central bank.”
“Thatās right! Your family has a bank, after all.”
Damon nodded, recalling something he hadnāt considered. He could roughly imagine how Melias would torment them.
“Youāll demand repayment and put the territory up for collateral, right?”
“Exactly. I wonāt extend the repayment deadline.”
Damon looked at Melias with a strange expression. It was surprising to see someone known for their cold demeanor become so emotional.
“That’s ruthless. No wonder there are rumors that Macintosh Marquisate will bleed black if he gets stabbed.”
Thinking Melias was acting this way because of Illenas made Damon feel a bit spiteful. Without thinking, sarcasm slipped out of his mouth.
Damon instantly regretted his words, realizing he hadnāt meant to upset Melias.
Melias sighed at Damonās taunt. While it wasnāt completely unfounded, he was determined to be ruthless in this matter.
The only downside was that he couldn’t torment Willai any further.
The Macintosh family was already suffering from immense debt due to previous events.
Thus, there were no further means to escalate the torment.
“By the way, are you sure this will work? Cutting off funds like that means you wonāt receive any interest. Isnāt that a loss?”
“That level of loss can be compensated for with other ventures.”
Melias looked at Damon as if to ask why he was making such an easy thing complicated. This only irritated Damon further.
“Always the businessman.”
“I donāt understand how being good at business can be looked down upon.”
Melias chuckled at Damonās provoking remarks.
“Oh, I donāt know. Illenas doesnāt like that sort of thing. She prefers strong, earnest, and cute men like me.”
Damon found this remark particularly irritating and responded childishly without thinking.
“Those words canāt coexist.”
However, Melias was unaffected by Damonās behavior.
“Look at me. Iām already harmonizing.”
“It looks more like a dried flower arrangement.”
Melias reacted nonchalantly to Damonās childish comment. This only made Damon want to tease Melias even more out of stubbornness.
“I can take personal revenge on Willai Macintosh.”
With that, Melias casually brought up a topic that would provoke Damon.
“How?”
“I know most of the women Willai has been involved with. Our family runs an information guild, you see.”
Damon spoke with a smirk, raising one corner of his mouth.
“Some of those women are deeply entangled with him.”
“⦔
“I could use that to torment him. And with the recent changes in imperial law, if he approaches them under the pretense of marriage and then breaks up, it would be considered fraud.”
“Really?”
“Iām suggesting they could file charges. At least five women would be willing to come forward.”
“Do you think they would actually file charges? Theyāre all commoners.”
“Even if theyāre commoners, if our familyās lawyers get involved, they would. They could take the compensation and disappear to another kingdom.”
Candelaria Duchy operated the largest law firm in the empire.
They were a formidable group of lawyers, adept at harassing the legal ministers and easily overturning even the most absurd rulings.
“You really are ruthless.”
“Willai deserves it. And heās just unlucky, isnāt he?”
“ā¦Iāll concede that.”
“Then letās handle our own business and share the information we gather.”
“Alright, but you know not to let Illein hear this, right?”
“ā¦Iām not that clueless.”
“Good, then.”
With that, they parted ways, each heading down their own path.
“Shall we hold hands?”
“What?”
“We have to hold hands for 20 minutes, remember?”
As Illein said this, she had fully transformed back into Illenas while walking with Edwin.
She still looked like a man but spoke just like Illenas.
“If we hold hands here, who knows what kind of rumors might spread?”
“I donāt know.”
Her boldness made Edwin frown slightly, as if he was breaking a sweat, and he continued speaking.
“You shouldnāt be so unaware.”
Illein couldn’t help but chuckle at his words. There was something oddly amusing about Edwin’s reaction.
