As her index finger disappeared into his mouth, it seemed almost sacred to her, making it even more strange.

Outwardly, it didn’t seem problematic.

However, she felt an illusion as if she could see what was happening inside his mouth.

Driven by annoyance at his movements, or perhaps resigned to the fact it was just a dream, she pushed her middle finger further, parting his lips.

She observed how easily his seemingly firm jaw opened under her fingers.

For a brief moment, before her middle finger was fully engulfed, the slippery feel of his lips clinging to it felt mischievously sensual.

That mischievousness clung to her middle finger too, becoming sticky as it tangled with her hand.

It almost felt as though she was taming a wild beast with her fingertips.

Amidst this, an e****c sound emerged.

“Edwin.”

She called his name with a deep exhale, and his red eyes were fixed on her.

“Are you scared?”

He briefly released her hand and kissed her as he asked.

She locked eyes with him, seeing the glistening traces on her fingers.

“Are you asking if I’m scared of Edwin?”

She asked with a dazed expression, and he smiled as if pleased.

“Or have you figured out how to handle me?”

“I don’t understand what you mean.”

He said, gently stroking her cheek.

“There’s that expression again. As if you’re the only one who doesn’t know anything.”

She truly didn’t know much. All she knew was that a stunningly beautiful man was before her, a man who loved another man, and he had always been there to help her in times of need.

“Then tell me. If there’s something I don’t know, you can just tell me.”

Her words seemed to please him, or perhaps they angered him. His expression was a complex mix that was hard to read.

“Do you even know how to say such things?”

“Was that something I needed to learn?”

As Illein spoke, he chuckled.

“You always hated whatever I said. You were always so cold.”

“Me?”

“Yes, you.”

“I was never cold.”

Illein looked into Edwin’s gaze, wondering what he was thinking about.

The red in his eyes glowed mysteriously as they fixed on her.

“Do you not recall anything when you look into my eyes?”

“They’re pretty?”

“Besides that.”

“They’re vivid.”

“Something else.”

“Your eyelashes are beautiful. They match well with the color of your eyes. It feels like afterimages linger every time you blink.”

Illein was speaking her mind without holding back, and with every word, Edwin’s expression grew increasingly brighter.

“Besides that.”

“What else could there be?”

“You felt pity when I said I hated my eyes.”

“Why would you hate these eyes? They’re too pretty.”

Illein, using her free hand, gently touched the corner of his eyes, and he seemed to melt under her touch.

“The Emperor always thinks of my mother when he sees my eyes.”

“….Ah!”

That moment, she remembered that detail from the original story.

“I… don’t know Edwin’s mother. All I see is Edwin… I like these eyes. They seem so vivid and strong compared to mine, like there’s a flame inside them.”

Her words seemed to please him once again, and her fingertips brushed his stiff eyelashes.

She impulsively touched his eyebrows, she noted how soft they felt, which seemed at odds with Edwin’s typically sharp features.

“Edwin.”

“Yes?”

“Something’s touching my knee.”

“Curious what it is?”

Trying to adjust her position, she felt something firm beneath her knee.

“My thigh feels hard.”

“Is that what it is?”

“Yes.”

She frowned, sensing he might be teasing her for being drunk, but his suggestive smile stirred her feelings strangely.

“That’s strange.”

“Do I seem strange?”

She was convinced the firmness her knee felt was indeed his thigh, as she felt his solid leg when she leaned slightly against it.

“Yes, strange.”

“Why?”

“You seem to know how to handle my desperation.”

“What does that mean? It sounds like something from a literature class.”

As she tried to sit up, he pressed down on her shoulders and drew closer, their lips almost touching. Illein couldn’t understand why he was moving towards her, so she remained still.

“I’m feeling quite desperate right now.”

“It feels like our lips are going to touch.”

“Do you dislike it?”

“It’s ticklish. And…”

“And?”

Even in a dream, Illein felt that kissing Edwin was a total no.

“We shouldn’t be doing this. We’re not married, after all.”

“Pfft…What did you say?”

“They say you should first kiss when you get married.”

“Who says that?”

“My mother and father.”

“Oh, really? Then we might as well be married already, considering we’ve done much more than this.”

“Oh… this is such a strange dream.”

She spoke out loud.

Illein, in both her current and past life, hadn’t even held hands with someone, let alone kissed.
