I Give Up on the BL Novel's Male Leads - Chapter 80
The police officer looked at Edwin, clearly flustered, as Edwinâs expression was notably troubled.
“Tell me where Illein and Illenas are.”
Edwin grabbed Damonâs shoulder and said this.
“Your Highness?”
“Are they safe? Where are they right now?”
“Your Highness, why are you asking?”
Damon was confused. Edwin suddenly looked distressed. He had never seen him so anxious before.
“Tell me where they are, right now!”
Damon, who had just been told that it was difficult to reveal Illenasâs location, was baffled by Edwinâs insistence.
“Listen.”
“Yes, Your Highness?”
“Dispatch the police officers. I need to confirm the safety of Illein and Illenas.”
“Pardon? Ah⌔
“Why are you acting like this, brother?”
“Are you in league with the perpetrator or something?”
Ignoring the princesâ comments, Edwin looked directly at the police officer.
“Move immediately. We need to ensure the safety of both individuals.”
“Your Highness, what exactly is happeningâŚ.”
“Think about it. The person who can distort memories and taint the memories of objectsâdo you really think theyâd leave Illenas alone? How can we be sure her memories havenât been erased? And what about Illein? We need to check if heâs safe and hasnât had an accident on his way here.”
“Ah⌔
“Reinforce the police force immediately and ensure their safety⌔
“Um, excuse me!”
Illein, feeling that the situation was escalating because of her, spoke up.
“If itâs Lady Illenas, I know where she is! Sheâs in a safe place, but sheâs unable to come out right now due to some issues!”
“How can you be so sure?”
“Iâm sure! I can guarantee it!”
Edwin still found it odd that Illein looked like Illenas.
Yet, he couldnât shake the thought that if Illenas was with the assailant, it would be dangerous.
“How can you be so sure? If Illenas is in danger, are you prepared to take responsibility?”
Illein was taken aback by Edwinâs cold tone. She wondered if he truly cared about her well-being.
He didnât see her as a romantic interest. So why was he so concerned for her?
Then she realized that Edwin was worried about her because of the control device.
“Right nowâŚ!”
As Edwin tried to say something, Illein gently grabbed his hand. Edwin, seemingly irritated, tried to shake it off.
However, sensing her magic through his touch, Edwinâs eyes widened in realization.
He then looked at her again, now clearly seeing the smirk on Illeinâs face.
Despite her appearance, which clearly wasnât Illenasâs, it was evident that the change was due to what happened before.
Realizing that she was safe, Edwin sighed in relief and said,
“âŚAlright, if Illenas is truly safe⌠then thatâs enough. Illein⌔
“Heâs also safe at the mansion. Donât worry.”
With Edwinâs sudden shift to calmness, the nearby Second and Third Princes exchanged suspicious glances.
“Then what about reinforcing the police force?”
“Donât bother.”
“Ah, yes.”
The police officers were puzzled by Edwinâs sudden change of instructions, but decided it was best to focus on their primary duties.
The strange incident on the second floor was bound to require a lot of attention.
Damon had not seen anything. And all evidence that could identify the perpetrator was contaminated.
This meant that it wasnât the work of an ordinary wizard.
The police stayed on the second floor while the crowd naturally moved to the first floor.
They blocked all access to the second floor with magical barriers.
Illein, still holding Edwinâs hand, couldnât escape from him.
“Your Highness, please return my partner.”
“Lena is staying with us.”
Mellias and Damon said, attempting to take Illein with them.
“Before that, I need to have a word with her.”
Illein nodded in response.
“Damon, Mellias, Iâll be back shortly.”
She truly wanted to talk with Edwin. She needed to explain what she remembered and clearly understand what he knew.
Illein also wanted to believe that the figure she saw on the second floor wasnât Edwin.
She followed Edwin as he descended to the first floor and then exited the building.
As she followed him, she felt uneasy, sensing that they were heading toward a place with fewer people around.
“Excuse me⌔
“Just a bit further.”
“Where are we going?”
“To Class 1.”
“Oh.”
Illein couldnât understand why he was specifically heading to Class 1. But knowing they were going somewhere familiar seemed to ease her wariness slightly.
“But why are we going there?”
“Because thatâs where our class is.”
She realized that he had already started to include both her and himself in his reference to âourâ class
