“The Connection Ceremony…?”

Yeshion tilted his head, searching his memories.

If it was the Connection Ceremony, that was the day of his first attempted escape. Aside from collapsing after praying for Eldis’s well-being when it became his turn…

‘Wait, I collapsed…?’

Yeshion stared at Eldis with wide eyes.

Back when Eldis was teaching him about divine power, there was something he’d clearly explained.

“What’s the most prominent symptom when divine power is used incorrectly?”

“Nausea, dizziness, and in severe cases, fainting.”

Right. Yeshion himself had answered that question clearly.

Nausea, dizziness, and, if severe, fainting!

“N-no way. You mean the reason I collapsed that day was…”

“Yes. You collapsed because you couldn’t control your divine power and overused it.”

Yeshion’s face began to tremble. If he already had divine power at that point, then…

“Then, before that… whenever I prayed in the southern prayer room, the reason my body kept hurting was also…?”

“Oh, that’s right. During this period, you were indeed in the southern prayer room. Correct. You were healing those people.”

Yeshion’s mouth slowly dropped open.

So back then, when he seriously worried that ‘Yeshion’s’ body was just trash, it turned out that it wasn’t because the real ‘Yeshion’s’ body was weak—it was all his own doing.

‘No wonder he kept teaching me about divine power…’

Shame flooded in, realizing he was the only one clueless about this.

Eldis had known all along, yet here he was, loudly insisting, ‘I have no divine power!’ or whining about why Eldis kept looking for someone else inside him.

As embarrassment flushed his cheeks red, Eldis smiled and spoke.

“And thanks to you, even now… my ‘weakness’ is still completely healed.”

“Even now? B-but this time, I didn’t heal you… The Connection Ceremony is still far off…”

“Yes. The weakness I had was somewhat unique, so even after death returned me to this timeline, it remains cured.”

Eldis smiled brightly, as if overjoyed that he could finally reveal the truth.

Seeing the usually gloomy but beautiful face illuminated by a radiant smile, Yeshion couldn’t help but stare at him for a long moment.

At that instant, Adelio reached out and covered Yeshion’s eyes.

“Stop using beauty tactics. He’s weak against stuff like that.”

Adelio’s voice was petulant.

Yeshion gave him an incredulous look and tapped at his arm, but Adelio didn’t budge.

“Hey, who’s weak to beauty tactics? Who?”

“Who else? You. Forgot already? When we first met, the moment you saw my face you blurted out that I was handsome.”

“I don’t remember that!”

When Yeshion swatted at his arm again, Adelio finally lowered his hand. Unfortunately, once Adelio’s hand fell, Eldis’s bright expression returned to normal as well.

“In any case, were you curious about what my ‘secret’ was?”

“Ah, um… Yes. I wanted to find out why we all ended up dying in our past lives. The fundamental reason behind it. Though it seems I guessed completely wrong.”

If Eldis’s issue had been healed long ago, it couldn’t have been the cause of his death. That meant it was difficult to understand why the others besides Adelio had died.

‘Rosaline went missing, and Eldis died in front of my grave…’

The only one whose cause of death was clear was Adelio.

Seeing Yeshion’s deeply puzzled expression, Eldis gently spoke up.

“My cause of death had nothing to do with my ‘secret.’ But because you healed me back then, I was able to save you many times.”

Was healing somehow related?

When Yeshion tilted his head, unable to understand, Eldis smiled and explained.

“Yes. My ‘secret’ was related to divine power.”

“Divine power…?”

“I was under divine punishment. For the crime of killing my father, a very long time ago.”
