‘There are things I’ll only understand if I see them myself.’
The problem was… he didn’t know where those meetings took place. Still, not knowing didn’t mean he could just sit and do nothing in the temple.
‘I have to get out of here.’
Luckily, ‘Yeshion’ had always had relative freedom of movement. If he stepped outside without saying anything, it wasn’t like the other priests would try to stop him.
Just as he began to lift his hips, itching to leave, Rosaline—who had been quietly listening this whole time—spoke up.
“Then next comes… how we’re going to kill that bastard.”
“…Huh?”
Yeshion turned to him, eyes trembling, shocked at the brutal curse that had just come out of Rosaline’s mouth.
But Rosaline just smiled sweetly, as if nothing were wrong.
“That trash from Mishemol. You’re gonna ruin him, right?”
Rosaline’s radiant smile was truly beautiful. …Beautiful—and absolutely terrifying.
At those words, Adelio lifted the corners of his mouth in amusement, and Eldis’s eyes flashed sharply.
“Then the next order of business is how to kill Edward without leaving any evidence.”
As the conversation went on, Yeshion’s lips trembled ever so slightly.
It seemed that Edward…was as good as dead.

“Ugh, I’m dying…”
Just listening to all that murderous talk was exhausting.
Slipping quietly out of the office, Yeshion clutched his pounding head.
“Edward, huh…”
Eldis had refused the next purification mission because of what happened last time in the Mishemol Duchy.
“…Will it really be okay though?”
He’d declared boldly, “I’ll destroy the original plot!” but that didn’t mean he wasn’t afraid. He already knew from the novel that Rosaline would be seriously injured—and even if they’d managed to avoid that once, the fear lingered.
If everything started diverging this much from the beginning, what could he possibly rely on to survive from here on out?
“Life was never meant to be predictable anyway…”
Technically speaking, this life as Yeshion was unpredictable too. Just because he knew Rosaline’s future didn’t mean he knew his own.
“If it all goes wrong… there’s always a reset.”
Muttering out of habit, Yeshion frowned as a heavy feeling settled in his chest.
Anxiety.
‘Will I really… be able to come back again?’
Yeshion considered everything that had happened up until now to be something of a miracle.
Even if his own return could be chalked up to some possession privilege, the other three—those were people who originally belonged to this world.
For them to regress… truly was a miracle. A miracle that might never happen again.
Yeshion bit down hard on his lip. When a wave of gloom came crashing down, he slapped his cheek and took a deep breath.
“…Let’s move.”
No more weakness.
Things were still better than before. He now knew that running away wasn’t the only answer, and those who once hated him had started to show kinder faces.
“I hated it at first…”
Hated it? That was putting it mildly. He remembered doing everything he could to escape, saying he never wanted to see their faces again.
But in just a few short months, he’d opened his heart far more than he expected. So much so that now, he found this place precious. So much so that he wanted to protect them.
“So I will not let them die.”
With that short vow, Yeshion stepped forward with purpose.
Even if he had to face death again.
Even if, because of that, the three no longer remembered him.
It would still be okay.
If they drifted apart, he could always reach out again.
Now that he had seen their kindness, he had faith—faith that even if forgotten, they could reconnect once more.
Steeling his heart, Yeshion strode away from the temple.

Quickening his steps down the long staircase that connected the temple to the city, Yeshion took a deep breath and scanned his surroundings.
“I wonder… Where do I even begin…?”
In novels, shady things usually happened down alleyways like those. Turning his head, Yeshion stared into a narrow, secluded alley.
And just then—
“Where are you going?”
A low voice sounded behind him, followed by a large hand gripping his shoulder.
