After saying that, Yeshion got off the bed and pulled on a fresh set of clothes.
Adelio naturally followed behind, gently brushing Yeshion’s forehead as if checking for a fever.
“Where are you going?”
“To find a way to recover my memories.”
He remembered seeing a book with a long title tucked into a shelf while cleaning the library last time.
It was definitely titled ‘58,282 Miracles and Wonders Possible with Divine Power’, and since it was a book kept in the temple, its contents had to be verified as true.
“……You’re going to read all of that?”
When they arrived at the library, Adelio crossed his arms and stared at the shelves. Even just the books with the same title, aside from different cover colors, looked to be well over a hundred volumes.
‘No wonder the shelves felt fuller than usual.’
Still, it wasn’t something he could give up on.
Yeshion pulled out the book on the bottom row and sat at the desk. He didn’t have time to read everything, so he planned to skim only the sections with similar content.
One volume, two volumes… after going through over twenty books, Yeshion buried his face in the pages.
“Don’t tell me you’re already worn out after just twenty books?”
“……The owner of this body is definitely an idiot. I can’t believe reading is this hard.”
Yeshion muttered casually as he insulted the real ‘Yeshion.’
Of course, even when he lived as ‘Han Yeseong,’ he hadn’t been fond of books, but now it was even harder than before.
It felt like his brain was cramping.
“Take a break. I’ll let you know if I find anything similar.”
With that, Adelio turned back to the book.
He was far more focused than Yeshion had expected. He summarized contents quickly and had an extraordinary reading comprehension.
The way he’d frown and mutter, “……You can even do this with divine power?” as he read showed his comprehension easily outpaced Yeshion’s. Even after all of Eldis’s crash courses, there were still plenty Yeshion couldn’t recall.
‘Maybe I really am the idiot……’
Muttering under his breath, he glanced back down at the book, the letters now looking like squiggles.
He let out a long sigh as the words stopped registering, and Adelio quietly said,
“Recovering your memory might not be an entirely good thing.”
“Huh?”
“You know the saying. That memories are like traces left behind in a person’s soul as they live through their allotted time.”
Since Yeshion had possessed this body, all of the real ‘Yeshion’s’ memories had vanished from his mind, so Adelio’s words weren’t exactly wrong.
In fact, they were spot on.
Any ‘memory’ left somewhere in this brain would be remnants of the real ‘Yeshion,’ not himself.
“If you recall those memories, I worry his remnants might stain you. And part of me is scared that you might be erased. You may be living in this body now, but you’re not the original owner.”
“…….”
“We don’t even know if that real ‘Yeshion’s’ soul is truly gone or still lingering somewhere…… Recovering those memories could be dangerous.”
Adelio closed the book he’d been reading. He’d likely come across information related to memory retrieval or souls.
Yeshion stared at the book for a moment before speaking.
“There’s no way I’ll let the real ‘Yeshion’ take my body back.”
“How can you be sure?”
“Because he said so himself. If I clean up the mess he left behind, he’ll give this body to me.”“Are you serious?”
Yeshion nodded.
It had been a dream, and with everything that happened since, he’d nearly forgotten about it, but…… they said temple priests’ dreams were never meaningless.
So that must have been a message the real ‘Yeshion’ left him.
‘And if that dream was real, then the real ‘Yeshion’ must still be here inside this body, too.’
Because he spoke as if he’d been watching all along.
“……Even if I recover those memories, can you promise not to forget me?”
“How could I ever forget you?”
“…….”
“They say you never forget your first kiss.”
At Yeshion’s words, Adelio’s eyes widened.
