I Wish You Well In Your Next Love, My Love - Chapter 15
āArvina!ā
She couldnāt support herself and collapsed completely. Forgetting her warning not to come close, I ran to her.
Arvina was breathing in short, shallow gasps as she barely moved with my support.
I helped her over to a sofa in one corner of the bedroom, but the moment she sat down, she slumped sideways again. Even her lips had turned pale, and all color had drained from her face.
āIāll call a doctor.ā
I started to stand, but a weak hand lightly caught my fingertips. When I turned back, Arvina shook her head.
āI can do it.ā
āā¦ā¦ā
āIāll be fine if I rest for a moment.ā
As if she had squeezed out the last of her strength to speak, the hand holding mine soon slipped away.
She had succeeded in every purification until now without deep contact. It seemed she couldnāt accept the fact that she had failed.
Perhaps she couldnāt bear the thought of it becoming known outside that even she had collapsed without being able to purify him.
Everyone has a weakness they would rather die than reveal. It seemed Arvina didnāt want the flawless image of her ability to be damaged.
I couldnāt make things difficult for her with meddling no one wanted.
I searched through the things I had brought from the shop, took out a blanket, and covered her with it.
Time passed slowly. As if someone had taken both ends of the night and stretched them out.
My gaze naturally drifted toward Gerard. After confirming that Arvina had fallen completely asleep, I carefully approached him.
I set the fallen chair upright and pulled it close before sitting beside him.
Heās lost some weight.
My eyes slowly traced the sharper line of his jaw.
āā¦ā¦ā
Once my gaze settled there, it didnāt stay only on his jaw. It traveled up along the shadowed bridge of his nose, over the eyelids shaded by dense lashes, and to the relaxed space between his brows.
Even in the darkness, the contours of his features were clear.
What impulse was it.
Very carefully, I took his hand.
āAhā¦ā
The moment we touched, my strength began to drain away. For a moment, it felt as if everything inside me was being pulled out, enough to make me dizzy.
It was a sensation I hadnāt felt in a very long time. My body swayed, and I steadied myself by bracing the bed with my other hand.
I could feel, faintly, Gerardās energy stirring.
Itās working.
As if it had been waiting for me, his power began to devour my purification. As if it were a lie that no other Purifierās power had worked on him.
I didnāt stop there and slowly rose.
āIām sorry. Just this onceā¦ā
I straightened my back and steadied my breathing. Then I lightly pressed my lips against his.
What if he woke up. Even though the contact was as light as a feather brushing past, the heat made my lower lip tremble.
The familiar scent I had never forgotten even after three years seemed to cover my skin completely.
My heart pounded rapidly, whether because it felt like I was doing something shameless, or for another reason.
Tilting my head slightly, I moved so that our lips and the soft tongues inside them touched. His chest, which had been still until now, expanded deeply, and I felt his breathing grow heavier.
It was a plain kiss, carrying no romantic meaning. Focusing only on it as a medical act, I tightened my grip on his hand.
Little by little, but steadily, he was stabilizing.
When I pulled my lips away, his damp breath spread faintly over mine.
āFor now, this much should beā¦ā
If it were up to me, I wanted to continue purifying him all night until he was completely stable, but I didnāt know when Arvina might wake up behind me.
It was just as I loosened my grip on the hand I had been holding tightly.
āAh.ā
Before I could even pull my hand away, my wrist was seized tightly. Before I could continue my thoughts, my body was suddenly dragged onto the bed.
