Now he had gotten to know, and had felt it for himself. Her softness. Her tightness. Her heat. The way she had trembled around him with every thrust.

It was a mind-blowing sensation of pleasure, delight, and satisfaction.

It was the kind of ecstasy you can’t learn without becoming addicted.

Remembering this, his desire grew steeper and steeper, with no sign of abating.

He hadn’t done anything, but his dripping excitement had begun to spread on her pristine thighs.

As a result, Serenia would probably wake up to him rutting against her in his sleep.

‘Am I insane?’

Even a beast drugged with aphrodisiacs wouldn’t act like this.

‘Should I just go to the bathroom?’

He hated the idea of leaving her side, even for a moment, but if he didn’t… No, it was more than unwilling, it was painful, but there was no other option now.

He was really at his limit.

If she woke up now and saw him like this, what would Serenia think of him? Would she think that he couldn’t even control himself for a single night?

“I’m sorry. I’ll be right back.”

As he whispered the words, Lionel carefully began to pull away, easing his arms from around her, only to freeze in place, caught in a tangle of limbs.

Serenia had felt the warmth of his body begin to slip away and, in her sleep, she clung to him with desperate strength, burying herself into his embrace.

“No…”

Her voice was barely above a murmur. Her lashes trembled faintly, a thin sheen of moisture pooling at the corners of her closed eyes.

“…Serenia.”

Just like that, the sight of her like that made his resolve break. There was no way he could leave her side now.

Part of the reason was… The third vision.

Earlier that day, when Serenia’s divine power had seeped into his wounds, he had seen her. Crying. Screaming, “Don’t go, please don’t go.”

She had been running toward him, her small frame wracked with sobs. Her vision had been blurred by tears, her steps uneven. She had stumbled, and fallen, but she had still reached for him. She had still tried to hold onto him. But he had turned away and left her behind.

At first, he had assumed it was a glimpse of the future. Perhaps something that would happen in his next life if this one failed.

The Lionel in that memory had been far too powerless, too weak. He had possessed nothing and had held no real power.

From his current perspective, it was too pathetic.

So there was only one explanation.

That vision had to be from a past he had forgotten.

Maybe once before, he and Serenia had been lovers, too, though somehow he’d lost all memory of it and lived like a complete stranger ever since.

It may have been a brief fantasy, but the devastating feeling of leaving her crying had become his own, and Lionel couldn’t turn away from the tears in her eyes as she cried in her sleep, unwilling to be separated from him.

So instead, Lionel gave up on escaping to the bathroom, and on quelling his desire. He simply laid back down.

And in his arms, Serenia relaxed. Within seconds, she had fallen asleep again.

Lionel exhaled long, slow, then he lightly bit her shoulder. Just enough for her to wriggle slightly, instinctively nuzzling against his chest in protest. He couldn’t help but laugh.

“When you wake up, we’ll see.”

He wanted to see how she planned to take responsibility after she woke up from a good night’s sleep.

Because until then, he was going to be wide awake, trapped in his own burning desire, fighting off this relentless, insatiable hunger.
