It Seems Like The Infamous Trash Can is Right Here! - Chapter 103
He guided me to the table and sat me on his lap, then proceeded to feed me small, bite-sized pieces of food he had prepared in advance.
Among them were cakes that looked and tasted identical to the ones Ardin had fought through fierce competition to bring back from the most famous patisserie in the capital.
‘Who went out to get these so early in the morning?’
There were even more varieties of chocolate cakes than before.
“What if I spill something on my clothes?”
Sure enough, a small crumb of chocolate tumbled off and landed on Lionel’s lap. Fortunately, it left no stain, but next time, a far worse disaster, like stew spilling, could happen.
“I’ll just change, it’s okay.”
“…You really don’t have to do all this.”
I said it out of courtesy, even as I obediently nibbled on the food he placed in my mouth like a baby bird.
“Does it bother you?”
Did it?
Hmm… maybe a little. Sitting alone and eating freely was definitely easier.
But I didn’t want to leave Lionel’s embrace.
His body was naturally warm, and as always, he smelled so good.
“It’s not uncomfortable. I’m just worried you might find it tiring.”
“Not at all.”
He rested his chin gently on the top of my head, rubbing it softly.
“Letting you go would be much harder. If I could, I’d keep you like this all day.”
It didn’t seem like just a passing remark—especially with the way his arms tightened around my waist.
Well, if he was happy, then so was I. Comfort wasn’t important. Happiness was.
Once I had eaten enough, I tilted my head back to look up at him.
“Lionel.”
There was something I had on my mind ever since I decided to take his hand.
“There’s something I need to tell you.”
Should I reveal my secret to him? And if so, how much should I tell him?
After careful thought, I decided that I should at least tell him about my ability, specifically, my Precognition.
Lionel undoubtedly knew far more than I did about the capital’s political landscape, ongoing affairs, and potential threats. Meanwhile, the information I could access was extremely limited. It was only logical that we use my ability together, rather than me making judgments on my own.
“My divine power isn’t limited to just healing.”
Lionel’s brows furrowed slightly as he looked at me.
“…Then what else?”
“I can use ‘Precognition.’”
He looked genuinely shocked.
“…Precognition?”
“Yes. Though it has a lot of limitations. The way it works is….”
I explained in detail the mechanics and restrictions of my ability, what I had discovered through trial and error, and what I had managed to achieve so far.
“So it’s probability-based.”
“Exactly. It seems like there’s no such thing as a definitive future.”
When I first awakened my power at the monastery, I had tested my Precognition so obsessively that I was on the verge of collapse every day, but not once had I ever gotten a 100% certainty.
Even something as simple as what breakfast would be served only showed a 99% probability. To this day, I still wondered what that 1% alternative to oatmeal could have been.
“I see. I understand now.”
Lionel nodded slowly before speaking again.
“I suspected you might have another ability besides healing… but I didn’t expect it to be Precognition.”
He had expected it? That was… an interesting choice of words.
“Even with limitations, it could be incredibly useful for avoiding danger.”
Rather than pressing him for answers, I decided to pretend I hadn’t noticed and simply nodded.
“That’s why I wanted to tell you. Before we go to the palace, I thought it would be good to check something.”
“Check something…?”
“Even if our visit to the Imperial Palace takes longer than expected, we’ll probably be back at the mansion by dinnertime. So, I want to ask my Precognition about the probability of me not being at the Luanax estate at that time.”
