It Seems Like The Infamous Trash Can is Right Here! - Chapter 104
Lionel considered my idea and nodded. With that, I led him into the bathroom as a precaution, just in case.
And for the first time, I used Precognition in front of someone else.
Manifestation of Divinity: Type – Precognition.
A massive surge of divine power filled the space, radiating intensely. A light as bright as midday sunlight but not blinding enveloped both me and Lionel.
Lionel’s expression hardened, his eyes narrowing.
This must have been the first time he had witnessed this much divine power being released at once.
“Eight hours from now, what is the probability that Serenia Solen will not be at the Luanax estate?”
Timeframe: Eight hours from now. Target: Serenia Solen.
Just as I had explained to Lionel earlier, I activated my ability.
The probability of Serenia Solen not being at the Luanax estate in eight hours is 10%.
I froze, seeing the probability.
That was higher than I expected.
“Did you get your answer?”
Only I could see the semi-transparent display, so Lionel had nothing but my expression to rely on.
“…Yes. There’s a 10% chance… that I won’t be coming back.”
Lionel’s expression mirrored my own conflict.
“…Should we check one more time?”
“Won’t that put strain on you?”
“Twice is fine. Three times would be too much.”
Lionel hesitated for a moment at my response before shaking his head.
“It’s better to save the opportunity for later, just in case. Since we can’t defy an Imperial command, we’ll have to find another way.”
“Alright.”
I was still worried, but knowing that Lionel would work with me to find a solution was far better than agonizing over it alone.
“Maybe ‘Precognition’ can develop further.”
“Develop…? You mean it can improve?”
“Yes. That’s what happened with ‘healing.’ The more I used it, the more my abilities improved.”
“This is the first I’ve heard of that. Is it common?”
“I don’t really know. From what I saw at the monastery, the healing priests’ powers remained the same as when they first manifested.”
Lionel nodded.
“Then, those priests’ powers are the standard. I’ll look into it, but for now, it’s best we keep this secret.”
“Understood.”
After leaving the bathroom, I was assisted by the maids as I prepared to meet the Emperor.
There was far more to consider than when I had dressed for the masquerade ball.
While I was getting ready, Lionel had stepped out. When he returned, he slipped a pink diamond ring onto my ring finger—the engagement ring we had chosen yesterday.
“It’s finished already…?”
“Money makes anything possible.”
I glanced at his own ring finger, I saw he was now wearing the matching set, as he answered me.
I found myself staring at the ring, feeling strangely excited.
Now, to anyone else, we would look like more than just a couple.
I wondered again how it had come to this.
“Your Grace, the carriage is waiting for you.”
At the attendant’s report, Lionel and I descended the staircase together.
For most Imperial citizens, an audience with the Emperor would be considered a great honor, but to me, it felt like walking into the jaws of a beast and hoping to make it out alive.
I was already tense. What should I do?
I took a slow, deep breath to steady my nerves, then a commotion erupted from below the stairs.
Startled, I looked down just in time to see Dantère land a punch right to Ardin’s face.
“You bastard—how dare you touch Vivian?!”
Dantère looked half-mad with rage, while Ardin, despite being knocked to the ground, brushed off his clothes with an infuriatingly relaxed air.
Seeing the scene unfold, something clicked.
As a reader of A Night of Entwined Serpents, I could take a pretty good guess at what happened.
Looks like Vivian and Ardin also crossed the line last night.
