Before Dantère reached us, Lionel got off the carriage first and helped me down.

“Hold my hand and step down carefully.”

Meanwhile, Dantère, who arrived in front of us, threw a tantrum.

“Can’t you make Ardin Silias come separately? Or put him in your carriage. I don’t want to go with him.”

I’ve thought this many times, but Dantère, that man is truly something else. He does this to Lionel because he has no one else to complain to.

Sure enough, Lionel answered coldly.

“I have no intention of getting involved in your lovers’ quarrel. If you’re uncomfortable, go back right now.”

“Lovers’… quarrel…?”

Dantère’s expression became strange.

‘Why is he acting like that?’

Puzzled, I looked at him and he was covering his mouth with his hand, seemingly thinking about something.

“Come to think of it, that’s right. If this isn’t a lovers’ quarrel, what else would it be?”

“……?”

“I’ll handle it well, so don’t worry.”

He waved his hands vigorously and his steps returning to Vivian somehow looked excited.

And there was another person who looked pleased.

“You’ve arrived.”

Halid, who jumped down from his horse as if flying, approached Lionel.

“I looked around the area once. There were no particularly suspicious people. Did you say the territory around here belongs to Baron Paracke?”

“Yeah, on the surface it’s a family with no connection to Luanax.”

Baron Paracke, known as a nouveau riche who bought his noble title, was actually one of Lionel’s right hand men.

He said he’d put in quite a lot of effort to get this territory, which was less than half a day’s distance from the Imperial Capital.

“Are we staying here tonight?”

“We have to. If we leave at dawn, we won’t stop until the second meeting point, so you’d better rest well tonight too, Duke.”

“Understood.”

Lionel doesn’t seem to know yet. Unlike Dantère or Ardin, Halid has nothing to do at night except sleep soundly.

The building where we decided to rest tonight was too small in scale to be called a noble’s villa. It was more like a two-story house where commoners live.

“Including this place, I’ve prepared about a dozen places where we can hide safely. A caretaker visits every few days to replenish our food and necessary supplies.”

He said they were all secretly located in territories that had no connection to Luanax or were rather known to be on bad terms, making them good for avoiding the Imperial Family’s eyes.

‘Wow, I know about this. It’s like a safe house that appears in spy movies, right?’

Hearing Lionel’s words, I felt a sense of freshness and looked around as I entered the building.

“I’ve sent word to Rex Ruina’s side, so we should receive news of the Imperial Family’s movements soon.”

I nodded at his words.

I hoped we’d successfully caught the enemy off guard. Even if not, there was nothing particularly to lose on our side anyway.

Since there were no servants residing in the building, we had to handle everything from meal preparation ourselves.

Lionel told me to go rest in the bedroom on the second floor, but having set foot in the safe house I’d only heard about, curiosity arose and I followed him around.

‘As expected, there’s a secret room!’

The underground storage with a hidden entrance didn’t hide any great secrets. Instead, it was full of food supplies.

There was a variety of items, from fresh vegetables and fruits that seemed freshly stocked to preserved foods that could be stored long-term.

Lionel filled the box with food ingredients without hesitation.

“Lionel, do you know how to cook?”

“It might not be great, but it should be decent enough to eat.”

I was going to try displaying my basic cooking skills from my past life just in case, but it seemed Lionel was going to handle everything himself.

‘Don’t we have to light a fire and draw water?’

I’d thought that too, but Lionel put Ardin to work.

‘As expected, the tier 1 in a fantasy world is a mage.’

Ardin-brand firepower was insane. It was at a level where he could put on a fire show right away.

Of course, if left as is, the ingredients would obviously become charcoal, so Lionel had Ardin heat up a stone plate, then adjusted the heat himself.

I only now learned that Lionel could handle magic a little too. As expected, an infinite regressor could do anything.

Lionel glanced at Vivian and her companions with an expression that said something close to ‘Do I have to take care of those guys’ meals too?’ then put the most appetizingly grilled meat on my plate.

“Eat a lot.”
