It Seems Like The Infamous Trash Can is Right Here! - Chapter 63
Lionel’s eyes widened in shock.
“How… how did you know?”
“It’s something I can tell when I heal someone. Whether you were cut in a fight or if you inflicted the wound on yourself.”
To be honest, I wasn’t entirely sure. I had never met another high-ranking priest capable of divine healing, so I couldn’t compare.
But it wasn’t exactly a lie either. The only difference was that I could see more than I had let on.
Lionel looked genuinely flustered—something that didn’t happen often.
“Then… when you checked my belt last time…?”
“Yes. I knew back then, too.”
I let out a quiet sigh before asking,
“Why did you do it? If it’s something you can’t reveal, I understand. But if it’s not, please tell me.”
I grasped his hand and looked directly into his eyes.
“We’re about to be married. If there’s something I can do to help, I want to.”
His gaze wavered as he opened and closed his mouth a few times before finally exhaling.
“The truth is… I needed your divine power.”
“My divine power?”
“I’ve received divine healing before, but this has never happened. For some reason, your power affects me differently.”
Now that I thought about it, his reaction had been strange the first time I healed his shoulder.
“There’s something important that I’ve forgotten. I know that I’ve forgotten it, but I have no clues, no way to recall it. As time passes, it feels like it’s slipping even further from my grasp.”
“Forgetting… you mean…?”
“My memory isn’t intact.”
I was the one who was startled this time.
Memory loss was something I had only seen in novels.
“But when your divine power lingers inside me, I see visions. Fragments, but… they feel like lost memories.”
“So you hurt yourself to bring those memories back?”
Lionel lowered his head in remorse.
“I made you go through unnecessary trouble—twice now. I’m sorry.”
“As long as you’re honest with me, it’s fine. I would have helped you anyway.”
I meant it, but I also understood why he hadn’t told me sooner.
Unlike me, who had read A Night of Entwined Serpents and knew what kind of person Lionel Luanax was, he barely knew anything about me.
At most, he knew I was the youngest daughter of House Solen.
How could he trust me enough to reveal something as dangerous as missing memories?
“So… did you see anything this time?”
Lionel nodded to my question.
“Yes. Thanks to you.”
“That’s a relief. But you really can’t do this again.”
“I understand.”
“Instead, I’ll infuse you with divine power once a day.”
His brows furrowed slightly.
“How do you intend to do that? I was under the impression that divine power couldn’t be used without a clear purpose.”
“I told you I’d remove your scars, didn’t I? That should be a valid enough reason.”
“Ah… I see.”
I watched as Lionel absently ran a hand over his now unblemished side.
Then, my gaze flickered to his lap, where his ever-present shirt was draped over his legs.
At the same time, I recalled the vision I had seen—the way he had hesitated, regretting that he had rushed things.
“Then, in return for your help… do you want me to—”
“Would you like me to kiss you?”
Lionel’s gaze locked onto mine.
“Are you sure?”
After a long moment, he murmured,
“I thought…you didn’t like it because I was clumsy.”
… So he had misunderstood the reason I had been avoiding his gaze ever since that night.
“I told you before, didn’t I? That I kept thinking about it all day.”
I shifted, climbing onto his lap so that we were facing each other, and rested my hands on his shoulders.
“Since you revealed a secret to me today, I’ll share one of mine in return.”
Beneath the thin fabric of his trousers, I could feel the firm outline of something pressing against me.
