Me, the Weakest Member of the Hero’s Party? I’m the Villain Though? - Chapter 94
“They say dogs and fools don’t catch colds.”
I muttered to myself for no reason and carefully took the clothes that were covering me and draped them back over Kyle.
If anyone got sick here, the one who would suffer the most was Kyle.
As for me, even if I coughed a little, it would pass. It wasn’t something worth worrying about.
I stretched my stiff body and lightly loosened myself up. I stepped into the forest, thinking I would walk around for a bit, then suddenly fell into thought.
According to the lich, the Black Flame Dragon possessed two sacred relics. I had brought everything from the lair into my subspace, so the relics should probably be in there as well.
I stopped walking, looked around, then carefully opened my subspace and checked inside. It was packed full of miscellaneous items, so it wasn’t easy to find anything.
After rummaging around for quite a while, I found something that caught my eye. Among the many expensive-looking jewels, there was one item that sparkled especially brightly.
“Could this be it?”
It was a goblet decorated with elaborate ornaments made of gold. Its surface was studded with dazzling gemstones, making it look extremely valuable and mysterious.
There was another shining item besides the goblet. It was a ring made of the same gold.
The ring was small enough to barely fit on my pinky, yet it emitted a brilliant light. Even someone like me, who knew little about jewelry, could tell it was no ordinary item.
But I had heard that one of them had been taken from Elonen’s temple, and I had no idea where the other one had come from.
One sacred relic I knew of had been kept by the imperial family of the Hellana Empire. According to Kyle, it had disappeared before it was presented to the Black Flame Dragon.
Then had the past Lysian found it? Or was this a different relic?
No matter how much I thought about it, there was no way to know. In the end, it was all just speculation.
“What should I do with these…”
There was no reason for me to keep the sacred relics, and the best option was to return them to the hero’s party. But the problem was how to give them back.
‘By the way, I’m actually the Black Flame Dragon, but I’ll return all of these, so could you just forget everything I’ve done so far?’
There was no way anyone would agree to that.
Then there was only one method. While traveling, I could pretend to find them at the right moments and return them one at a time.
We were supposed to cross the snow mountains and head to the Land of the Dead over the next week, so there would be plenty of opportunities.
Having reached a conclusion, I put the relics back into the subspace and let out a long breath.
My head already hurt enough because of the Dark God and his followers. And now the sacred relics too. It was nothing but one headache after another.
If only I could know what the past Lysian had been thinking.
As I thought that, a method came to mind. I looked around the forest, sunk in darkness, and gave a soft whistle.
As if it had been waiting, a crow flew in from between the trees, flapped its wings, and landed on my shoulder.
—You called, Master?
“You showed up right away. Were you following me?”
—Yes, I wasn’t sure when you might call, so I’ve been following you the whole time.
From the Barony of Caindel all the way to the snow mountains. It was quite a distance, yet it had managed to follow without being noticed. I was especially curious how it had crossed the sea.
“How did you get out of the lich’s dungeon? You didn’t get hurt, did you?”
—Of course not. When the hero’s party showed up, I slipped out quietly. I’m deeply moved that you were worried about me, Master.
Larry seemed overwhelmed with emotion and rubbed his head against my cheek. If I had truly been worried, I would have called him much earlier, but I didn’t want to interrupt his touching moment, so I let him be.
“Anyway, I called because I have something to ask.”
—Yes, ask me anything! I’ll answer everything I know.
I was thinking about how to ask naturally. If I suddenly asked outright, ‘Where did this relic come from?’, Larry would find it strange.
“I’m on my way to retrieve the last relic right now.”
—Don’t tell me, you’re finally going to retrieve Adrianna’s Staff?
Since he said ‘finally’, it seemed the past Lysian had also been planning to go get it. And the name of the relic was ‘Adrianna’s Staff’? That was information I was hearing for the first time.
“Adrianna’s Staff?”
I murmured carefully, trying to sound as natural as possible.
—You were wondering when you should go retrieve it, Master. I’m glad you’re finally going to get it.
Getting information without raising suspicion was harder than I thought. So I decided to take the risk and ask directly.
“Do you remember the two relics in my subspace?”
