The Wicked Wife's Dark History Keeps Coming Back To Haunt Her - Chapter 119

The Bayern carriage entered the Reginald Viscountcy’s manor.
Ash stepped out and extended his hand to escort Nina.
A deep navy-blue dress and a subtly glowing diamond necklace.
Though the dress wasn’t overly ornate, its elegant silhouette drew the eye.
Her overall appearance was quietly captivating, beautiful enough to hold people’s attention without being ostentatious.
Ash glanced at his wife, who now naturally accepted the escorting arm she had become accustomed to, then looked around.
Familiar faces were murmuring amongst themselves for some reason.
Ash let out a silent scoff.
Ever since his wife had declared that she would attend the Reginald Viscountcy’s ball instead of the Dunklin Marquisate’s, he had anticipated this kind of reaction.
“…No matter how I think about it, I can’t understand why you chose this place. Did you really like that drawing that much?”
Most of the guests here were people who hadn’t established themselves in high society and remained on the fringes.
It was plainly obvious that this was a party where only House Reginald stood to gain—of no benefit whatsoever to House Bayern.
If the goal was to suppress the rumors surrounding his wife, wouldn’t a high-profile venue like the Dunklin Marquisate, which drew large crowds, have been better?
Still, since she seemed set on coming here even if she had to go alone, he had accompanied her, but that didn’t mean he understood her. It left him in a sour mood.
“Better than throwing away money at the Dunklin Marquisate.”
Since it was a charity ball, they’d have to donate. But who knew whose pockets that money would end up in?
With a sigh, Ash looked at Nina as she confidently tugged on his arm, smiling as if assured.
At that moment, the viscount couple who had been standing at the entrance greeting guests approached with their children.
“Your Graces the Duke and Duchess of Bayern. Thank you for accepting our invitation.”
As Ash nodded, the Viscount Reginald introduced his children who stood beside him.
“Children, go on and greet them.”
A delicate-looking young man with deep blond hair and blue eyes, and a young lady who still looked a bit childish, bowed politely.
Perhaps it was their first time interacting so closely with high-ranking nobles, or maybe for another reason, but both of them blushed and looked overwhelmed.
“I am Henry Reginald. It’s an honor to have the opportunity to greet you both.”
“…I am Sarah Reginald. It’s a great honor and joy to have you here at my coming-of-age ball.”
Ash gave a brief nod.
At any ball or banquet, very few guests stayed until midnight.
Most came to assess the crowd, and if it seemed unworthy of their time, they’d simply offer their greetings and leave for another event nearby.
Incredibly, some disappeared in as little as fifteen minutes.
Glancing around, Ash quickly decided he would do the same. Just make a brief appearance and then leave.
Unless there was someone in the room whose connections would be of use to him, all he would encounter were opportunists scheming to leech off the powerful.
To Ash, already disillusioned by human nature, gatherings like this were nothing short of torment.
It was then—
“Duchess, the person who drew the olive tree you inquired about is my second son, Henry.”
“I was really curious which artist had drawn such a delicate piece. It’s a pleasure to meet you. There are many skilled sketch artists, but your work had a certain charm that drew the eye.”
“Thank you very much for the kind words.”
When Henry bowed his head, blushing at Nina’s compliment, Ash furrowed his brow.
His entire face, even his earlobes, turned red as he expressed his delight. Ash found it terribly displeasing.
Did the boy not realize she was a married woman?
“Let’s go inside.”
As if scratching at his heart with a fingernail, the irritation made him abruptly cut off the conversation.
He wrapped an arm around Nina’s shoulders.
Pulling her close enough for their bodies to touch, Nina’s gaze rose to his chin.
But Ash didn’t loosen his grip.
Like a male animal on edge, guarding its territory from intruders, he remained alert—
So that the Reginald second son, following behind them, would not entertain any foolish hopes.

This is hilarious 😂 Ash is jealous of EVERY single man now! I mean, Henry and his sister must be young if they basically just entered high society, and yet he’s worried about this puppy blushing at his wife’s compliment. At this point, how will he keep denying his obvious feelings to Nina, when his jealousy is so clear?? Thanks for the chapter! It was satisfying
