The Wicked Wife's Dark History Keeps Coming Back To Haunt Her - Chapter 144

Rebecca became the lady of House Nord, but she was originally from the Wessler Duchy.
And her mother was from the Crewe Marquisate.
Crewe Marquisate, Wessler Duchy, Nord Duchy.
Among the most powerful families in the Nesman Empire, these houses formed a tight-knit blood alliance, building an impregnable fortress.
And then there was âHeavenâ.
Spreading gradually across all social classes, âHeavenâ was a type of narcotic, the result of a collaboration between her grandfather and Marquis Dunklin.
After the exhibition drew to a close.
In the gallery ownerâs office, now quiet after all the guests had left.
Rebecca sat on the sofa, silently gazing down at a glass bottle filled with a clear liquid.
Marquis Dunklin asked Rebecca, eyeing her strangely.
âMadam, may I ask why youâre seeking this all of a sudden?â
Rebecca had never shown much interest in the business dealings of Marquis Crewe and Marquis Dunklin.
The moment you become curious about such things, your life falls into ruin.
She had seen too many people meet that fate from a young age.
Especially since their ends were always too ugly for words, sheâd always kept her distance.
But nowâŚ
âI have a use for it. But what I want isnât the finest quality. I want the cheap stuff. The lowest grade possible.â
Marquis Dunklin narrowed his eyes, trying to gauge Rebeccaâs true intentions.
âIs there perhaps someone you wish to killâŚ?â
The âHeavenâ used by the nobility was highly addictive, but not very toxic.
It was a product developed to slowly siphon off the wealth of the rich, and turn them into loyal servants.
Once addicted, people would even sell their own family to get more. There was no escape.
In fact, most of the Delphinium Foundationâs members were addicted to Heaven, which is why there was no outcry, even though the foundationâs funds were being embezzled abnormally.
The same went for the children presented to Rebecca.
But the cheap stuff Rebecca was seeking, âAngelâ, used inexpensive ingredients and had severe side effects.
At first, it delivered an ecstasy so intense it felt like meeting an angel, but those addicted to Angel ultimately found themselves not in heaven, but in hell.
The pleasure lasted only for an instant.
Once addicted, every sensation from the world became unbearable pain.
Hair brushing against skin felt like blades, falling rain like stones, sweat trickling down like molten lava.
How could anyone break free from the only thing that would let them endure such agony, a pain so horrific it made them long for death?
To use something like this on another person?
Such an act could only be explained by a truly vicious grudge or murderous intent, and Marquis Dunklinâs eyes shone with curiosity.
âWell, rather than killing someone, letâs just say thereâs someone I want to see suffer to the point of death.â
Marquis Dunklin opened his desk drawer.
He took out a small wooden box and pushed it forward.
âSo that wench is pregnantâŚâ
Rebeccaâs lips twisted as she accepted the box.
She couldnât bear the thought of that woman becoming happy.
For so long, sheâd been compared to Nina Bayern.
Family, looks, figure, learning, refinement.
In every respect, people ranked her just a step below Nina.
When Ninaâs life fell apart after marriage, Rebecca thought sheâd finally wonâŚ
But now, pregnancy.
Even in that, Nina was ahead of her.
Then sheâd have to take it away.
Let her lose her child, collapse in pain, and meet a wretched end, just like the countless others whoâd become addicted to Angel.
Only then could Rebecca finally soothe this tangled, disgusting feeling inside her.

If you left the downtown of Braumhill County, youâd find an upscale, quiet street.
Clean, with pleasant scenery, this road was often used by the middle class and wealthy alike.
âYou two use this to get yourselves a place to stay and a good meal.â
Nina handed meal money to both the coachman and Charles.
It was a large sum for a meal, but being stingy about food was just petty.
Nina was a generous Madam.
âSince itâs come to this, itâd be nice if they could do a little sightseeing, too.â
It was also a small bonus for Charles, whoâd suffered for so long as her lark.
âOh my, you didnât have toâŚâ
âThereâs plenty, so donât hold back. Just take it easy for today.â
âThank you, Madam. Master, Madam, please rest well.â
With a smile, Nina nodded and entered the hotel with Ash.
The lobby on the first floor was as elegant and tidy as youâd expect for a place catering to the upper class.
The staff uniforms were as refined as those of any noble household, and their appearances were neat.
Theyâd have to see the rooms to be sure, but the first impression was excellent.
She was looking forward to enjoying a hotel stay for the first time in a long while.
âBut, Honey, why are we only getting one roomâŚ?â
Ninaâs eyes shook as if hit by an earthquake. Sheâd taken it for granted theyâd get two rooms.

So now that psycho has resorted to poisoning and basically attempted murder?! If Nina & Ash once again let it go after this I think Iâm going to throw my phone across the room. By now, they should have PLENTY of evidence against her. And trying to kill not only Nina, but the fictional baby in her belly, is just TOO much. I pray that Nord makes the mistake of contacting through letter like she did before in order to poison Nina, and they receive the letter and lay a trap for her. Enough is enough, and those children NEED to be saved Asap!!!! Cmon Ash, protect your woman for real for once!
