The Wicked Wife's Dark History Keeps Coming Back To Haunt Her - Chapter 153
The ladies who had been hovering around Ash just moments ago were now looking over with eyes full of jealousy, while others watched with curiosity.
He fixed his gaze on the handkerchief fluttering delicately in her hand and extended his left hand.
āThat handkerchief is mine, isnāt it?ā
The corners of Ninaās mouth twitched.
Being a happily married couple, huh. How nice.
The faces of the onlookers, who had been watching this way, were painted with shock.
Those who had already witnessed Nina and Ashās affectionate display at the imperial banquet were less surprised, but for those seeing it for the first time, it was as shocking as seeing the sun rise in the west.
It seemed unlikely anyone would call her the abandoned duchess anymore.
With a faint smile, Nina tied the handkerchief around his wrist.
Who would have thought a day like this would come?
That she would ever tie a handkerchief on her husbandās wrist.
āThanks to you, I think Iāll be todayās winner.ā
He drew out his words, then kissed the handkerchief.
His eyes, which had glared at Henry just moments before, now curved so gently it was hard to believe he was the same person.
Nina flinched at the affectionate smile that seemed filled with love.
āWhat is this⦠Why does it feel like heās deliberately trying to seduce meā¦?ā
Nina tilted her head in faint bewilderment, then, remembering Henry, turned away.
There was a conversation sheād been having with himā¦
But Henry, with a bright smile and a thumbs up, was already stepping away, clearly having decided to give the couple some privacy.
āItās about time for the hunt to begin.ā
āYou donāt have to win. Just come back safe, alright?ā
There could be dangerous animals out there, like wild boars and lynxes.
No matter how thoroughly the soldiers had cleared the forest before the hunt, you never knew when or where something dangerous might happen.
Sheād heard that in her previous life, heād won without a scratch, so it would probably be fineā¦
But you never know.
āThen, Iāll see you later, Wife.ā
Nina waved her hand gently as she watched Ashās back recede into the distance.
Would he bring the red diamond back this time, since there was no need to present it to Her Majesty the Empress?
āIāve never even seen a red diamond. I hope I get to see what it looks like.ā
But her curiosity about the red diamond only lingered for a moment.
Was it because sheād so boldly tied a handkerchief on Ashās wrist?
Or had peopleās perceptions of her inside and out begun to change, little by little?
As soon as Ash left and Nina entered the noblewomenās tent, she was greeted by a flood of warm looks.
āDuchess Bayern!ā
āMiss Catherine?ā
Catherine Barrington, who had been smiling and conversing with others, saw Nina and approached with a bright smile.
Catherine Barrington.
How long had it been?
āHave you been well, Madam? I received your reply to my last letter, thank you. I was hoping weād meet during the hunting festival, and itās so lovely to see you here.ā
Nina exchanged pleasantries with Catherine while scanning the interior.
Inside the splendid tentā
A long table, a three-tiered dessert tray, an impressive tea set and delicious-looking desserts that seemed to have come straight from the imperial palace were all set out.
While the men went off to hunt in the woods, the women sat together in the shade and cheered them on.
Nina sat down, chatting idly with Catherine, when she noticed the tent flap opening and faintly frowned.
Rebecca.
Sheād entered with the same boy Nina had seen at the exhibition.
āHello, everyone. Itās been a while.ā
Rebecca greeted the ladies with an elegant smile.
Rebecca had always cultivated her image well, so many welcomed her presence here.
Soon after, a maid entered the tent carrying an easel and painting supplies.
As the maid set up a small studio inside the tent, Rebecca introduced Emil.
āThis is a child Iām sponsoring. Today, heāll be recording this moment in a beautiful painting.ā
āOh my, but what happened to his armā¦?ā
The boy, who looked no more than fifteen, had a bandaged arm in a splint.
And it was his right arm, no less.
Could he even do his job as a painter?
The women exchanged skeptical glances, prompting Rebecca to answer with a subtle smile.
āI met this child through the Delphinium Foundation. Heās one of the children Iām currently sponsoring. How could I not help a young artist who continues to strive forward, even after losing function of his dominant hand in an accident?ā
āYouāre really doing a wonderful thingā¦ā

I really canāt take this it makes me feel so sick⦠the way she proudly shows him off, pretending to pity him, when it was her idea, and her order, which made his arm unusable. Her hypocrisy is disgusting. I really really canāt wait until everything is exposed. I know that sheās probably one of the final villains, which means we still have a way to go for everyone to know her true colours, but I wish at LEAST Nina could save the children sheās using from her grasp. I pray that she ends up talking with Emil, and finds out the truth and saves him and the other kids, also the āwhipping boyā. I canāt stand nobles using children like that, it always really bothers me in the stories I read. Also, I can bet anything that this is where Rebecca will try and drug her. Itās a perfect opportunity since they will all be together drinking tea and eating snacks while waiting for the hunt to finish. Thankfully, Nina knows EXACTLY what the drug smells like, so I hope she makes a scene and an investigation gets going to find the culprit. Though, Iām guessing some maid that Rebecca hired or blackmailed, will be the one whoās blamed⦠ugh I donāt want to just see her upset because her plan didnāt work, I WANT HER TO SUFFER AN ACTUAL DEFEAT FOR ONCE!!! I understand the author canāt have her taken down yet since sheās one of the final villains, but at the very least SOMETHING should happen and she should lose some of her benevolent image. Sheās SO FAR from the way people see her, at the very least I hope something about her is exposed this timeā¦. Nina and Ash have been WAY to lenient. They saw what becomes of those who end up addicts to āHeavenā. So I truly wish that they donāt ONCE AGAIN let it go this timeā¦
