Cecilia was busy. She would have enjoyed it if it had been by her own volition, but she was being dragged around, kept active.

Yes, it is usually the busiest before the market opens.

They pulled her out from a dusty corner where she had been kept and brought her to the center stage.

It was a temporary farewell to her beloved bedroom.

The Amethyst Room had been neatly emptied, and Cecilia’s bedding had been placed in Caroline’s room.

Bernarda lent her some jewelry, and the maids powdered her bare face. They dressed her in a pre-fitted blue satin dress as though it were her everyday clothing.

ā€˜Are we playing doll now?’

She seemed to have been slightly excited about this time in her past life. But experiencing it again, it was just bothersome and tiring.

Adam had moved Lilith to the annex and sternly instructed her not to take a single step outside.

It wouldn’t have been strange if her temper had caused her to snap. But this was no ordinary affair—it involved her daughter’s marriage. Lilith actively cooperated.

Young Margaret and Nathan were kept together in the children’s room. This was a precaution taken because they were prone to slip-ups.

Thus, the gypsy’s daughter evaporated.

What remained here was only Evelyn Lasphilla’s younger daughter, Cecilia Lasphilla.

ā€˜Isn’t this a fraudulent marriage?’

Cecilia observed their astonishing antics as if it were someone else’s business.

“Let’s change the earrings too.”

“Putting your hair up would look more elegant.”

“Miss, you have a slender and beautiful neck, so a short necklace with blue sapphires would suit you best.”

It felt like watching a comedy.

Had it been like this before? She didn’t realize it at seventeen. She assumed Logan naturally knew her origins, so she thought he had been warned beforehand.

Looking at it now, the intention to deceive was clear.

ā€˜Well, the reason a nouveau riche marries a noble is obvious.’

It must be too burdensome to say that the woman actually has mixed gypsy blood.

But it was a clear deception.

Was Logan tired of this deception? If it enraged the person involved, imagine how the other party must feel.

If there was one entertaining aspect to this dreadful extortion event, it would be…

“Sister, are you okay?”

…Caroline.

She had suddenly lost her room. Though temporary, the shock of being displaced must be unbearable.

She answered with a pale face.

“Huh? Of course.”

The servants were bustling up to the hall, having polished it to the ceiling. Caroline tried to force a smile.

Cecilia smiled sympathetically, gathering Caroline’s hands together and lifting them to her chest.

“I’m sorry. It’s all because of me that you’re suffering too…”

Caroline’s hands trembled slightly. Cecilia found it amusing to see her struggling between the impulse to pull away and the reason telling her to be comforted.

The finely groomed tips of her nails clacked pleasingly.

“…Really, it’s okay.”

She finally found a compromise, gently pulling her hands away and fluttering a fragile smile like a butterfly’s wings.

“If you’re okay, then I’m relieved.”

Cecilia fidgeted with her hands. Caroline’s hands, which she had loathed to even brush against, felt regrettable today, like the lingering vibration of a bell after it’s been rung.

“Miss, Miss!”

Mary was still cheerful.

“This ribbon!”

“…Isn’t that the one I gave you?”

“Use it to tie up your hair!”

“Huh…?”

Are you returning a gift now?

“It’s made from the same material as the dress. It’s the exact same color, so it will definitely match.”

She’s confident, but she doesn’t understand the situation her master is in. She’s just excited about an event where her master can shine.

“I don’t take back gifts.”

“I’ll lend it to you!”

Mary held the ribbon in both hands, her eyes sparkling.

“It’s super clean. I haven’t used it once.”

“What? If you’re not going to use it, why keep it?”

Cecilia spoke as if she couldn’t understand.

“Then just sell it. It’s worth the most when it’s new.”

“If you use it, then I will too.”

“…”

So she had coveted my dress from the start, liking things that have been touched.

Cecilia looked skeptical. While she hesitated to respond, the maids rushed over, and soon her hair was swept up high.

Blue dress with a blue ribbon. It definitely looked better as a set.

The problem now was the hair color…

“Doesn’t purple and blue clash a bit…?”

“Well, I think it looks fine.”

“Should we try sprinkling some yellow powder in the hair?”

“Is that an old-fashioned hairstyle! Are we going to a masquerade ball?”

Cecilia just sat quietly. The maids eventually decided among themselves to change the doll’s outfit.

Since the dress changed, she returned the ribbon to Mary.

“Here, you’ve used it once. Now wear it as much as you like.”

“Okaayy…”

Mary seemed somewhat deflated.
