Holy Night: My Husband is Definitely a Paladin - Chapter 151
When Irene opened her eyes for the second time, her mind cleared a bit faster.
Confirming that she was properly dressed, she quickly moved out of Michaelās embrace.
Fortunately, this time, Michael didnāt try to hold her back.
It seemed that even he thought holding her again would be going too far.
Though he didnāt hide his disappointment, Irene resolved firmly not to fall for that face this time.
As she approached the lakeside to wash her face, Michael stood up and finished buttoning his shirt.
Before his buttons were fully fastened, she noticed the wounds on his chest and the red nail marks left on top of them.
She couldnāt help but wonder if it hurt at all.
Noticing her gaze, Michael looked at her, deliberately running his fingers slowly over the marks sheād left.
His touch held the same obscenity as when he had roamed over her body the previous night.
Feeling dizzy, Irene turned her head away.
She couldnāt understand it. Even when she had purified him before, he had been terrifyingly unshaken, holding complete control.
But now he was acting in a way that not even the worst rake in the kingdom would dare.
Was it possible for someone to fall this fast?
While Irene was lost in thought, he approached and helped her to her feet.
āCan you walk?ā
āā¦Yes.ā
Her legs felt a bit numb between her thighs, but she could still walk.
Irene took a look around the place where they had spent the night.
She had never particularly admired any of the dungeonās scenery before.
But this place was more mystical than anything sheād ever seen.
The lakeās depths seemed to emit a soft light, likely from plants with luminescent qualities, making it beautifully radiant.
Moreover, beside it grew soft grass in shades of blue and green that could never be found outside the dungeon.
After taking in the lakeās surroundings for a while, Irene, feeling a pang of hunger, spoke up.
āIf only we had something to eat, it would be perfect.ā
She had originally packed enough provisions for several days, but Princess Ceciliaās party had shown up looking like beggars and cleared everything.
What remained had been left behind when theyād hurriedly fled.
āCould we go back to where we ran? There might still be food left thereāit would be good if we could fetch some.ā
āThereās no need for you to eat such things.ā
With those words, Michael took all of Ireneās belongings and held her hand, leading her onward.
āWhere are we going? And⦠are you sure itās safe to move around like this?ā
A fear she had momentarily forgotten came rushing back.
It was clear the lakeside area, like the reward room, was a place where monsters couldnāt approach.
Otherwise, how could they have spent an entire day here without encountering a single creature in a dungeon teeming with monsters?
She could hardly believe they had let everything go and indulged in each other in such a dangerous place.
No matter how strong Michael was or how sensitive he was to presences, it would be difficult to overpower the monsters that had massacred so many people.
And if the tentacle monsters that had ensnared him returned in a swarm, how would they even fight them?
As Irene fell deep into thought, Michael glanced back at her.
He could guess what she was thinking. She was probably telling herself to be more careful in such a place from now on.
Needless worry. Most monsters here obeyed him.
Except for one.
The one that had replicated his appearance yesterday.
āAs long as weāre cautious of that one.ā
He hadnāt expected it to track him this far.
Thinking he should be more careful, Michael led Irene deeper into the dungeon.
* * *
The place Michael led her to wasnāt far from the lakeside.
As they arrived, Irene momentarily forgot her situation and looked around in genuine awe.
āTreesā¦? And even fruits?ā
Michael had brought her to a small forest within the dungeon.
A place filled with uniquely shaped leaves and fruits unlike anything she had seen anywhere in the world.
Though plants were occasionally found within dungeons, it was her first time seeing a cluster like this.
