Chapter 370
The sky instantly returned to its original state.
If not for the grass around them, which had faded from the heatwave just moments before, it would have seemed as if nothing had happened at all.
Just as Michael realized the dragon had truly left and was about to ask Irene if she was alright in his armsâ
ââŚâŚ!â
His consciousness was suddenly pulled into darkness.
âHuh? Michael!â
As Ireneâs voice grew faint in his ears, he lost consciousness completely.
A short while later.
âMichael, are you okay?â
Michael gasped in surprise at the sight of the woman looking at him from within his own arms.
Who is this woman?
* * *
âWhat on earth just happenedâŚâ
Irene, her voice hollow, watched Michael from a distance as he knelt in prayer.
When the Dragon of Oblivion emitted that bright light, she had hurriedly closed her eyes.
But moments later, she had felt Michaelâs body, which had been holding her, collapse.
Frightened, she opened her eyes and caught him.
Then Chomp-chomp slithered out from under a rock and hurried to Michaelâs side, shouting,
[Thatâs why I told you to close your eyes! Your Majesty, you fool!]
âWhat are you talking about? Are you saying Michael ended up like this because he didnât close his eyes? What did the dragon do?â
[WellâŚ]
Before Chomp-chomp could answer, Michael groaned and opened his eyes.
âMichael, are you okay?â
Though she asked with concern, the Michael who looked at her now did so with a blank gaze.
Something about that look made Irene feel unsettled.
Whenever Michael looked at her, his eyes had always been full of love and affection.
So much so that she could never doubt, even for a moment, just how deeply he loved her.
But now, his eyes were filled only with confusion, as if he was wondering why he was here with her.
And a few seconds later.
âW-What in the worldâŚ!â
As if he had touched fire, Michael jumped back from Irene in alarm.
âWhatâs wrong? Are you hurt? Or does your head hurt, maybeâŚ?â
She reached out in concern to touch his arm, but Michael flinched away again and quickly retreated further.
Then he shouted at Irene,
âD-Donât touch me!â
ââŚâŚ?â
What is he talking about?
âThatâs what I usually say to youâŚâ
Swallowing her confusion, Irene studied Michael.
He looked as if he had committed a great crime. Face red, breathing rough, and crossing himself repeatedly.
Then suddenly, he collapsed to his knees and began to pray.
âO Almighty God, your servant has committed the sin of touching a woman. Please, forgive your servantâŚâ
At that moment, something flashed through Ireneâs mind.
The Dragon of Oblivion.
The light that dragon had emitted.
And now Michael, acting as if he had forgotten her.
âOh my godâŚâ
Irene realized what had happened.
Because of the Dragon of Oblivion, Michael had lost his memories!
And so, while watching Michael still praying, Irene sat down and rested her chin on her hand.
From behind her, Chomp-chomp peeked out a tentacle and said,
[Donât worry too much. Heâs called the Dragon of Oblivion, but we all just call him the Drunken Dragon. The reason is, his power only lasts about a week in human time, at most. Some things will be completely forgotten, but after about a week, all the old memories come back.]
âReally? Thatâs a relief, thenâŚâ
At that, Michael finally finished his prayers and stood up.
With a grave expression, he approached Irene and asked,
âWho are youâŚ? Why were you here with me in a place like this?â
At his question, Irene couldnât help feeling a little indignant.
So she smiled sweetly and said,
âIâm Irene, your wife. Oh, and right nowâŚâ
She stroked her stomach and continued,
âIâm carrying your child.â

Several hours later.
[Your Majesty, are you still not finished with your penance prayers?]
Chomp-chomp muttered, looking exhausted as it watched Michael continue to pray.
âSeriouslyâŚâ
Irene sighed and muttered,
âI never imagined heâd be this shockedâŚâ
