In the Doghouse - Chapter 228
A day passed, then two, then several days went by. Courtney hounded Anton every single day. But whether the man had shot up into the sky or fallen into the earth, even the aide’s best efforts turned up no trace of the hypnotist.
Courtney set other people to look as well. Even though the nobles had all been desperate to invite the man, strangely, after that day, not a single person in the capital reported seeing the hypnotist. Had he really left the city for good? With no other option, Courtney sent people to search other nearby towns as well.
Meanwhile, her feelings swung back and forth a dozen times each day. She worried what she’d do if her runaway dog never came home, and yet, at the same time, thought, ‘So what if my husband stays like this?’
One evening, while the children were elsewhere and she was enjoying a quiet meal, Richard suddenly spoke.
“May I come to your bedroom tonight?”
“…What?”
The sudden request made Courtney repeat herself without thinking. Richard, lowering his gaze bashfully, continued,
“If not, my bedroom is fine… or, if you want, even that room from before.”
“Oh…”
Courtney belatedly realized what he meant. Sharing a bed, asking to sleep together—that’s what this was. Did normal married couples ask each other like this?
Richard was trying to act casual, but he couldn’t even meet her eyes. Courtney was suddenly curious. What would a man who found it so hard even to make the suggestion do once they were actually in bed? Most likely, he’d be extremely polite.
A romantic night together in a typical position. Unless she took a lover, this might never happen again.
With a mix of anticipation and excitement, Courtney nodded.
“Then come down. I’ll clear things out.”
Richard’s ears turned red with shyness. This wasn’t so bad, she thought. It felt almost like they were newlyweds again. Maybe, just maybe, Richard’s ‘inner problem’ had truly been solved? In high spirits, Courtney finished her meal.
* * *
Same place, same partner. But the air in the bedroom was entirely different from before. The indecent portrait had been covered with a white cloth, and the wardrobe stuffed with lewd implements was closed up tight. Even the candlelight that used to create a gloomy, suggestive mood now felt more like a prop for a romantic evening.
Above all, the tension between the two was completely different.
“Ha, Courtney…”
Richard pressed his face to her chest. He pushed aside her disheveled night robe, pressing his lips repeatedly to her slightly raised collarbone and spread b*****s. His hot breath tickled her skin. But Courtney simply stared blankly at the ceiling, feeling nothing at all.
What exactly are we doing here?
The start hadn’t been bad. As soon as Richard entered the bedroom, he’d wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her deeply. The passionate kiss made Courtney’s heart pound in response. They’d clung to each other and tumbled onto the bed together.
Up until then, she’d been quite hopeful. This was exactly the sort of married life she’d once dreamed of.
He was the one who asked for it this time, so surely, he’d take the lead, and do it well. Maybe that was where she’d gone wrong. She was oversimplifying things.
It had already been more than ten minutes since he started kissing her exposed skin, revealed as he pushed her robe aside. How long was he planning to keep this up? Just lying there, she was starting to feel impatient.
There was another reason Courtney couldn’t focus. Richard, fiddling with the ribbons at the sides of her panties, asked,
“May I take these off…?”
Courtney let out a long, weary sigh. There’s such a thing as being too polite. It’s not like she was going to say no, so why did he need to ask about every little thing? She just didn’t understand.
But if she didn’t answer, he seemed ready to go on like this all night. She replied curtly,
“Do as you like.”
His already flushed face lit up with color. Is he that happy, really? In frustration, Courtney felt like grabbing him by the collar and shaking him.
Rustle—
The tiny pephew of cloth was slipped off. Richard gently caressed her mound. Unfortunately, it was as dry and barren as the Eastern Desert.
Just when she thought something might finally happen, even that hope proved premature. Only then did Richard slowly begin peeling away each layer of her clothing. Courtney forced herself to tamp down her irritation, which kept threatening to burst out.
Everything was falling short of her expectations, but there was at least one thing that hadn’t changed.
Unlike that disastrous night before, his member was standing fully e***t. That, at least, was somewhat appetizing.
But unfortunately, her own body wasn’t ready to ‘eat’. And it showed no sign of getting ready, either.
