Not only did he skip the first night of their marriage, but for two years, they slept in separate rooms, ate separately, and even drank tea separately.

Though he maintained the minimum courtesy in public, it was clear that he did so reluctantly.

Though they were married, they remained strangers.

Well, it’s common knowledge how vaccination and subsequent resistance works, right?

Nina, who was weak from birth, received abundant love and care in her childhood.

During her single days, she was used to being treated like a queen in high society thanks to her strong background.

Having lived such a life, Nina had no resistance to coldness, disregard, mockery, and criticism.

The harshness of the world, which she learned for the first time after marriage, gradually broke her.

She tried to improve her relationship with her husband, but her misguided efforts only made things worse…

And ultimately led to the disaster of the previous night.

After that, she was divorced by her husband and lived a miserable life before leaving this world.

“This is driving me nuts…”

Public criticism, mockery, contempt.

She could endure those somehow.

Even if she felt like dying from the pain, she wouldn’t actually die.

But what would happen a year later, when her husband ousted her grandfather to divorce her, was different.

Led by her grandfather, the family members who held key positions in the imperial court were demoted one after another, and the family rapidly collapsed, causing the life of ‘Nina’ to plummet into ruin.

Her grandfather and parents were imprisoned due to political enemies’ schemes.

Creditors came knocking every day.

Those who mocked her by proposing to make her a concubine.

Even until then, she denied the reality, believing the family couldn’t possibly fall so low…

But after her only younger brother died and their mansion was seized, she wandered the streets and died miserably.

And now, it felt like she was dragged back to her past life by the hair, as if she had bought a round-trip ticket to this world.

“…Should I pretend to have amnesia since my head is already cracked open?”

Nina rubbed the back of her head, considering it, but shook her head.

What good would that do?

The doctor had already declared her healthy, and pretending to lose her memory wouldn’t change the contemptuous looks directed at her.

‘The best course of action now is to just get divorced as soon as possible.’

No matter how much she thought about it, that was the best option.

A year from now, when her husband drew the sword he had been sharpening, her family would be utterly ruined, and her life would fall into a pit.

‘…I need to end this marriage and start anew in a place where no one knows me.’

Nina decided to give up her noble life.

High society?

Her reputation was already in the gutter.

She didn’t have the mental strength to brazenly show her face around.

Parents?

She was really sorry, but she planned to take the unfilial daughter route in this life too.

As soon as she got divorced and went home, her parents would start looking for a new husband for her, and she was sick of marriage.

‘But I must prevent Grandfather’s downfall…’

The tragedy that befell her family started with her grandfather’s downfall.

‘The situation is a bit crappy…’

This return to her past life might be her only chance to prevent the catastrophe she had caused with her own two hands.

So before leaving, she needed to clean up the mess she made and resolve her husband’s grudge.

Her eyes, filled with despair, now shone with a determined light, like a soldier resolved to fight to the end.

Marsha asked worriedly as she changed the bandage,

“Madam, how are you feeling? Does your head still hurt?”

“I’m fine.”

She had bruises all over from falling down the stairs, but luckily nothing was broken.

If she took good care of the wound on her head, it would be fine.

“If you feel even a little bit of pain, you must tell me. Head injuries need to be taken seriously.”

“Yes, don’t worry too much.”

Nina awkwardly smiled at Marsha, who looked at her with tearful eyes, feeling sorry.

Usually, she would have thrown a fit looking for her husband as soon as she woke up, but she had been quiet for days, making Marsha anxious.

‘…Honestly, it would be strange not to worry.’

In her past life, upon realizing that her husband hadn’t shown up while she was bedridden with injuries, she had flipped the entire house upside down.
