‘The circumstances under which he inherited the title are unclear, but…’

Ash D. Bayern, a duke who inherited his ducal house in his early twenties and carries out state affairs with excellence.

And the sole blemish of that Duke of Bayern, his wicked wife, Nina Bayern.

Among those who move within high society, there were likely no two people as topical as these two.

“Aside from the unreasonable demands of House Ulverni, was there anything else you’d call a rare experience?”

At Nina’s question, Count Conwell set aside his curiosity and answered.

“A short while ago, Duchess Nord paid a visit.”

Duchess Nord attended Henry’s exhibition, and she even purchased a ticket herself at the booth to enter.

What’s more, she left quietly without making a scene.

Anyone who knew that House Bayern and House Nord were sworn enemies would have no choice but to tilt their head in puzzlement.

After all, there were even rumors that she had barged into Countess Crest’s tea party recently and caused a commotion.

“Did she, perhaps, say she wanted to rent your gallery?”

At the question filled with certainty, a strange light flickered in Count Conwell’s eyes.

Because Nina’s words were true.

“Yes, it is true that I received such a proposal.”

“And what did you decide to do?”

At the follow-up question, Count Conwell narrowed his eyes and asked in return.

“…Duchess, are you trying to pressure me?”

He was so mad about art that his wife had divorced him over it.

That was precisely why he knew the standing he held in the art world.

The Conwell Gallery displayed only the works of those he acknowledged, and once one benefited from that principle, the value of that painter’s works skyrocketed beyond measure.

If one were to line up all those who had come carrying piles of money to rent his gallery, they would circle the walls of the count’s estate.

Among them, would there not have been one or two who tried to use power to force a rental, or conversely, power brokers who tried to block someone else’s rental.

At Count Conwell’s wary gaze, Nina shook her head and spoke.

“Not at all. I merely wanted to confirm something. If your convictions could be bent by power, you would never have become famous in the art world, would you?”

He glanced at Ash, who remained silent as if leaving control of the entire conversation to his wife.

Duke Bayern also nodded with a composed expression, as if he shared his wife’s view.

‘…I’d heard they’d changed, but seeing them side by side, they really are different from before.’

He had once seen the two of them from afar.

He had a wanderer’s habit of visiting exhibitions constantly, but as a high-ranking noble, he couldn’t completely distance himself from high society.

Back then, Duchess Bayern had been the one unilaterally chasing after the Duke’s back.

Now, for some reason, it seemed the balance of power had tilted toward the Duchess.

He lingered in thought only briefly.

Ian, who had been sitting quietly beside Nina, asked with sparkling eyes,

“…I’m sorry to interrupt, but then does that mean we’ll be able to see that child’s paintings in your gallery?”

That child.

Had the young master of House Bayern become acquainted with Emil?

Count Conwell smiled faintly and affirmed it.

“Yes, that’s right. Left-handed painters aren’t common, after all.”

“Count Conwell, I’ll give you several of Emil’s paintings free of charge. We’ll also pay the rental fee properly. In return, I’d like that child’s solo exhibition to be held at your gallery as well…”

It was a tempting proposal.

Poor and unfortunate artists filled the world like grains of sand, but the narrative of that young painter had a power that added to the completeness of his works.

Of course, the works themselves had to be excellent at a basic level.

In any case, he found himself looking forward to the day when that young sprout’s paintings would come into his possession.

However…

“It’s just a shame. If he hadn’t lost the use of his right arm in an accident, he could have fully demonstrated his abilities.”

If that were the case, he might have been able to glimpse the completed world of that young artist.

Perhaps it was precisely because it would remain eternally unfinished that he could leave behind works of even greater beauty.

At that moment, Ian tilted his head.

“Huh? He said he originally painted with his left hand in the first place…”

“Emil, that child?”

Ian nodded.

“Yes.”

As Ian answered with his clear, earnest eyes, Count Conwell fell silent for a moment, wearing a doubtful expression.
