Ash gray eyes glimmered gloomily.

By now, Count Azelot was probably celebrating, convinced that House Bayern would be thrown into chaos because of his demands.

But that wish wouldn’t come true.

Ash pressed the inside of his cheek with the tip of his tongue, again and again, and lowered his eyes.

At the end of his gaze lay a letter with its corner crumpled sharply.

“…They keep rushing toward death.”

House Bayern, the study—

His low voice echoed.

Submitting gynecological medical records to prove they had consummated their marriage?

Even if House Azelot was a branch family of House Bayern, there was a limit to what he could tolerate.

If they had only coveted Ian’s inheritance rights, he might have ended it by merely stripping their title.

But the moment Count Azelot tried to drug him, the man had already crossed a river from which there was no return.

So even if he stayed quiet, death would eventually come for him. Yet the man was flaunting his presence as if begging to be killed.

How should he deal with this.

“Your Grace, may I come in?”

Ash rang the handbell.

Hozi entered carrying a thin document file.

“The task I ordered?”

“I released the two knights we had detained. They are both full of resentment now, so internal conflict should erupt soon.”

The one who was released first had lied to the Count.

He pinned the corruption he committed on those two.

He must have done so because he thought they were already dead.

But since they had been released alive, the count’s household would soon grow noisy with mutual accusations and fighting.

“Do you think Count Azelot will leave them alone?”

The Count would probably execute all three valuable men without mercy.

“Then their security system will become unstable.”

House Azelot was rotten.

The knights of that house were no different.

Even if it had been their lord’s order, they were rotten enough to kidnap a commoner and conspire in crime.

If the three knights who had barely returned were punished, would anxiety not begin spreading within the household?

The downfall of House Azelot would begin from that point.

‘…The problem is how to restrain the urge to kill.’

Ash frowned as the impulse stabbed at his patience like a needle.

The fact that the report requested ‘medical records’ meant that an official record would remain.

Falsifying medical documents was nothing to him.

Even if the matter never proceeded to a formal trial, and even if the record couldn’t be viewed by just anyone…

The scars left by his past self, who had been especially cold and ruthless toward her, would remain in an official document.

Ash roughly dragged a palm across his face.

He wanted to kill Count Azelot for demanding the supplementary investigation, and the domestic investigator who accepted it. Immediately.

No. More than anyone else, he wanted to kill his past self, who had been so cruel and heartless.

The past self who had turned away from her out of sheer determination to make her regret.

“…How about enduring it a little longer?”

Hozi spoke quietly.

From Ash he could feel a murderous aura so thick that the hairs on his body stood on end and the back of his neck prickled.

It wouldn’t have been strange if Ash had immediately drawn his sword and cut off Count Azelot’s head.

How could he, as Ash’s aide, fail to realize that his anger had reached its limit?

“…I believe I am already enduring enough.”

At Hozi’s words, deep wrinkles formed on Ash’s forehead.

His killing intent was already overflowing, ready to explode at any moment.

And yet he was being told to endure more.

The veins on the back of his slowly clenched hand bulged.

“Your Grace, we intend to frame Count Azelot for crimes he didn’t commit.”

Count Azelot had obtained the drug to harm Ash, but he wasn’t deeply connected to that matter.

However, the Finance Minister, Rebecca, and Marquis Dunklin.

Once the evidence tying them together and bringing about their downfall became as clear as the veins on the back of his hand, Ash intended to include Count Azelot as a bonus.

Not only manufacturing the drug, but spreading it through high society and across the entire empire.

Such a crime would never end with merely stripping a title.

Hozi quietly handed over a document.

“What is this?”

“It is the building register for a villa recently acquired by Count Azelot.”

“A villa?”

“It was obtained after the Count contacted Duchess Nord some time ago. I found it suspicious and investigated.”

Ash quickly skimmed through the document.

“…The ownership has changed quite a lot.”

The villa had been completed twenty years ago, yet its ownership had changed forty three times.

Villas in the capital were priced however the seller wished.

Even if they were small or old, land prices were high and the locations where villas could be built were limited.

No matter how high the demand was, a sale occurring roughly every half year meant the property had problems.

“…Three years ago the owner was Duchess Nord.”

“Well, the ownership changed five more times after that, so it is insufficient evidence to tie the two together…”

Hozi let the end of his sentence trail lazily while the corners of his eyes curved.

When Ash stared at him as if telling him to continue, Hozi remained silent for a moment before opening his mouth.

“House Azelot’s security will soon develop a gap, won’t it? When that happens, if we play a few tricks, the Count will come to resent the fact that he is still alive.”
