After finishing her morning walk, Nina returned to her room and greeted the maids standing awkwardly by the door with a welcoming expression.

“Come in, I’ve been waiting for you.”

“Why did you call us…?”

“I have a few requests for you.”

“Requests?”

The maids’ faces briefly showed a mix of annoyance and reluctance, as if they had expected this.

Nina could guess what they were thinking, but she had no choice.

She had to bear the gaze and opinions she had cultivated herself.

Swallowing her bitter feelings, she spoke.

“I heard from the head maid that you’ve recently been involved in a legal dispute. Have you encountered any difficulties during the lawsuit process?”

Thirty minutes earlier—

After finishing her morning walk and returning to her room, Nina had asked Melanie if there were any maids with experience in legal matters or who had acquaintances with such experience.

Since the head maid was responsible for hiring and approving leave, she was naturally aware of the employees’ family circumstances.

That’s how she identified Jessie and Yona.

Looking at the two women exchanging awkward glances in response to her question, Nina continued.

“You might not know, but at the charity event, noblewomen usually share household knowledge with commoners. But I don’t want to bring up such topics.”

The imperial charity event.

This large-scale event held twice a year was not just about serving lunch and dinner to the poor.

It was also a time for the ruling class to impart useful knowledge to the lives of the ruled.

However, the lecture topics conceived by nobles, who had never experienced the life of commoners, were predictably mundane.

How to maintain a harmonious household.

How to select good tea leaves.

How to choose quality ingredients, or aristocratic recipes, and so on.

While such information might not be entirely meaningless, there were many others who could teach those subjects.

Therefore, Nina had decided to choose a different topic.

“My grandfather is a judge of the Supreme Court, and I am his granddaughter. So, I want to share legal advice or litigation advice that people might find useful. To do that, I need to understand what difficulties people usually encounter during consultations.”

Jessie, realizing that this was a different request than they had anticipated, spoke up with a complicated expression.

“We would like to help, but the trial hasn’t started yet…”

“But you’ve received legal consultations, haven’t you?”

“That too, not yet…”

“Did you not file a complaint yet?”

“Not yet, Madam. We need to file a lawsuit, but we don’t have the money, and we’re a bit scared of getting legal advice…”

Most of the lawyers here were elites from noble families.

In a world where the gap between social classes was clear, it was natural for commoners to feel the law firms’ thresholds were high.

‘Still, being too scared to even get advice is quite serious…’

It became clear how distant the concept of law was to these people.

“In that case, would you like my help to get some legal advice?”

“Huh?”

The two women looked surprised.

“My goal is to understand what people find difficult when receiving legal advice.”

Thanks to her grandfather, she had overheard many things and was relatively familiar with the law, making it hard to fully understand their difficulties.

Therefore, their experiences were necessary.

“We would appreciate your help, but we’re not sure if we can be of any use to you…”

“You will be helpful, so don’t worry about that. And it seems our helper has arrived.”

Nina spoke to the shadowy figure she saw over the shoulders of the two women.

“Baron Summerden?”

At her call, the shadow seemed to waver for a moment before disappearing.
