Villain, Let Me Touch You! - Chapter 124
“Then, at least take one of my dresses. Itâll fit if you make a quick alteration. While youâre at it, take some jewelry. Iâm so tired of these.”
Demyr said this, and immediately removed the large emerald earrings she was wearing, along with the rings from six of her ten fingers, placing them neatly on the table.
They were clearly expensive pieces. And although Demyr claimed she was tired of them, I knew the truth â she treasured them.
She wears them often, after all.
Her actions were quite similar to the Korean mother-in-laws who would give away their cherished wedding rings to their daughters-in-law.
A ring passed down to a daughter-in-law…
“You donât want to try it on? Why? Are you upset because itâs something I used to wear?”
It was too much pressure.
“No! I love it! Really.”
The words I didnât mean to say just flowed out.
I was worried that if I said I didnât like it, she might even buy me a jewelry store, so I swept the accessories from the table onto my lap.
Then, unable to resist Demyrâs intense gaze, I tried on each ring, but they were slightly too big.
“Tsk, you’re all weak and flimsy. I’ll send you some herbal medicine tomorrow, make sure you take it.”
“Herbal medicine?”
Demyr casually nodded. I lowered my eyes for a moment, lost in thought.
Demyr had been so kind to me.
I understand that having common goals and enemies makes you an ally.
But is it usual to offer material support so freely to an ally?
âBut what are you doing here this evening? Didn’t we meet for lunch? Did you come because you wanted to see me? How annoying.â
Even as she said that, Demyrâs lips curled up slightly.
I quickly looked up and smiled.
She called the servant and ordered various snacks and tea.
“I’m so full…”
“Such a country bumpkin, again. You need to eat to grow. If you only eat birdseed, when will you get healthy?”
“I’m very healthy.”
Demyr widened her eyes as if she had heard something strange.
I used to be healthier than anyone else until I was imprinted, I muttered inwardly.
The desserts were quickly brought out. Each one on the plate looked like a work of art.
They say expensive things are eaten with the eyes first.
As I marveled, Demyr lifted her chin.
“Look at you, acting so silly, staring. Try it.”
Demyr pushed the plate toward me with the tip of her fan.
“Your Majesty, that dessert was specially made by the chef for you,â said the maid. âItâs your favoriteâ”
“Enough.”
Demyr glared at the maid. The maid pressed her lips together and retreated with hesitant steps.
“Eat.”
“Is it okay for me to eat it? It was made by the chef for you, Your Majesty.”
“It’s fine because I’m giving it to you. Are you worried the chef will be offended if you eat it?”
Demyr’s tone was subtly sharp. When I awkwardly smiled, Demyr burst out laughing as though she was shocked.
“Really, your commoner mindset is so deeply ingrained in you. That’s why…”
“Don’t you like it?”
If she didn’t like it, I felt like I would be disappointed in her.
It wasn’t because I was concerned about the chef; it was because I understood the effort and heart put into the dish that made me care.
“No. It’s just that the way you are is so fitting for you. Why are you opening your eyes so wide? You’re not a rabbit. You’ll get dust in your eyes. Keep them open properly.”
Demyr waved her fan. Then she split the dessert in half.
“Sharing is fine, right? Hmph, look at me, going out of my way for you. Sharing this tiny thing…”
She clicked her tongue, but the look on her face as she ate the dessert was bright.
I quickly popped the remaining half of the dessert into my mouth. It melted effortlessly on my tongue, a taste so divine it felt almost heavenly.
“If you want more, come visit.”
“Are you going to share with me again?”
Demyr nodded hesitantly, her face twisted in disgust.
“Fine, by all means. But really, why did you come here?”
“Itâs about the favor I asked for yesterday. Do you have any idea?”
Demyr had gone to find Priscilla for a warning, but there was another reason as well.
‘If you had something you cherished most, where would you hide it, Your Majesty?’
Had Demyr found the answer?
Finding the Diamond Hammer â that was my mission.
Her answer, along with the note left by the laundry maid, would be the treasure map that led me to the Diamond Hammer.
